Africa or Crete (the rock would suit them)
Well, I know that CiA High Command have checked out The Rock already as a potential site. IMHO it's far too small, compared with the other sites they've used.

You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
I'd agree from what I've seen- the rock looks rather small. If an Africa game was planned it might be better to set it late in the campaign in Tunisia or Algeria where the climate is much more temperate and the terrain is not dissimilar to southern Europe. This would make finding a suitable site much easier. As much as I'd like to do a proper North African desert game I just don't think there is a suitable site in the UK.
I really want to do a Crete game now too having read up some more on the battle recently. ![]()
Wouldn't mind putting together an Australian loadout, they defended Crete didn't they?

Certainly did.

Then you'll want a UK dessie loadout and a slouch hat.
Commonwealth kit is (bar incredibly minor differences) all the same for South Africans, Anzacs, Indian, Canadians etc etc.
Anzac kit at the time was KD shirt and trousers, ammo boots, the main difference in their kit was the use of a wwi style longer tunic with some units rather than a bd blouse type tunic.
1937 pattern webbing but I'm sure i've seen WWi webbing on some units at Crete.
As for PBIs November game its entirely possible it could be a weekender, far too far away at the moment to make hard and fast decisions ![]()

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
I always thought the bryansk site would be great for a game based around an elite SAS squad sent in to assasinate Herman goering in his Black forest camping trip.
The SAS could be "paradropped in" with some relative information about goerings routes at specific times of the day marked on a map then the SAS needs to plan when the best time to strike is and of course how and where and either capture goering or kill him, and also of course evade detection, because of the roads goering could move about via car with an escort.
As a bit of fun the SAS can camp in the field and the germans camp in the field barracks during the night the SAS can try and capture the german documents or somthing (without weapons so its like a game of sneaky beaky capture the flag with rubber sykes daggers) then the second day would be escape and evade the garrison forces or somthing.
The teams would be SAS, SS Bodyguard mounted in a vehicle of some kind, Heer Jager patrol troops patroling roads and generaly looking for the SAS, Heer police for road blocks (the road blocks also can serve as an ambush point as Goerings staff car would have to stop) and possibly a civilian loggers/partisan involvement.
nice, very "operation foxly" i think it could be a good un.
Who's going to play Hermann...??

Who's going to play Hermann...??
Answers on a postcard! I can think of a couple of people suitably "stout" for the role.
I think a game based on Operation Foxley could be brilliant, with teams of 2 trying to evade patrols, recce a hide location, observe and ultimately take the shot. Definitely a more "hardcore" type game, with very little trigger time but lots of tension and atmosphere.

When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
im happy to be a sentry for this, walk about shouting "wer da?" at every shadow
sound really good
and the bryansk site is excelent
i also know it well having taxied people all over it for 24 hours ![]()

Need a jolly larger gent who does'nt mind sitting in a Kublewagen all day armed only with a pistol and a portrait of the fallen maddona with the big boobies by van klump down his trouser leggs, wich he is going to give to Eva Braun as a birtday present ![]()
Tension and atmospehre is just as good sometimes as actual trigger time, the night patrol at the D-Day game was amazing even though only 1 shot was fired and it was a blue on blue.
I loved the Bryansk site I thought it was one of the moste buitifull places to play airsoft ever.
Does anyone know a jolly gent ??????
anyone going to name the obvious choice ?????
i certanly wont, i dont want banning

Also just thought if radio men could be used by the SAS then an observation team could spy the target then radio in which direction they move in, how many troops are with him what position the vehicle is ect then the ambush team can move into position and attack.
The idea for this game is as much skill, cunning and careful planning as actual fighting you have to choose the perfect time to attack (if you ever played hidden and dangerous you will have a good idea what I mean)
Obviousley the SAS would have to have a mobile CP Rally point to meet up at if they are discovered and need to retreat or are killed, they of course can medic eachother say 1 time but the squad medic can heal them 3 times (3 wounds rather than 2 as the SAS are hard as nails and there would be less of them) germans would have say 1 medic and 1 heal each. Of course if the germans capture a wounded SAS member then they can capture them take them back to base for interogation, wich of course the SAS team then makes a choice do they rescue the member before he talks, or leave him there and change their plan (of course you would have to put a time limit on how long the captured SAS man can be held so they dont end up captured for the whole game lol say Half hour mabe)
Of course the civilians can also give information to any side but of course they may be loyal to anyone they could help you fight or lead you into an ambush or sell you out.
the key would be both sides in german uniform i think,,,,,,,,, that would add to the confusion( plus brit or yank uniforms in the heart of the reich would be total bollox) plenty of german civies..... interesting.run with it dev. i like it.
Well mabe if the SAS were dressed in a different form of German uniform HBT instead of wool mabe, or having mabe 2 of the SAS in german uniforms (which can then replace guards at road blocks for ambushes)
But then as its airsoft using brit kit would be fine as you know they are the enemy annyway, and as most of the pople on here know what eachother looks like you would notice them annyway.
At the Bryansk site scrimmed helmets and denisons would be the perfect camoflage and would be great for an ambush, grey would be a bit esier to spot, and as the Brits are camoed up it makes it esier for evading detection and hiding for ambush making the germans have to look extra hard because the bush you are next too could have the SAS in it.
You could always write into the scenario that after the SAS escaped from the area they ditched their camos and changed into civies and german uniforms given to them by British agents and then went their separate ways either to Switzerland or back to England.
I think having all of the SAS in German uniforms may be a bit too confusing but having 2 of them would be good as an asset and add to the possibilities of plans they could make to capture or kill the target the more possibilities the more vigilant the germans have to be.
This makes the game totaly open ended as anything can happen and the teams need to evolve around the events and totaly work together as a cohernat team or they will fail.

Or a reverse of "The eagle has landed", with the would be assassins wearing German gear over their "proper" uniform. Once the infiltration is complete, dump the Jerry kit and crack on with the mission.
I think this kind of game has a lot of potential and would compel people to use their heads a lot more. I've been on some real sniper op's and never fired a round but they were a lot more interesting and scary than company/battalion level firefights. I'm not suggesting for a minute to make it 100% like a real operation but as close as could be achieved given the lack of real training airsofters have and some careful planning would certainly inject the tension desired. There's still scope for 20 or so per side. I don't think civvies would be particularly useful for the allies for an Operation Foxley type game, as the vast majority around Rastenburg were dedicated nazis, although you could have SOE agents in civvies, just to spice it up.

I think having civies would be useful for exactly that reason. The majority of the population would be hostile but one or two could be friendly. The allies would have to find out who they we in order to get them to assist them in their mission. If they got the wrong person/people then the civilians would try to inform the local garrison and blow the allied mission.
I like the idea of having both sides dressed as Germans as that would be the more likely scenario but that would exclude most non- german players. Devs suggestion of having some of the allies dressed as german could be the best way to go. The rest of the allies could be dressed TEHL style, ie ok from a distance using greatcoats & smocks to cover their allied kit.
There's still scope for 20 or so per side.
The teams would be better off unbalanced as suggested for the E&E game. If they're balanced the allies might get tempted to engage in firefights which to my mind is not what the game would be about. It would be better to have an inbalance so the allies would really feel up against it and try to do things as covertly as possible to avoid detection.
SS Bodyguard mounted in a vehicle of some kind,
If its Goering then the bodyguard should probably be luftwaffe rather than SS.
Does anyone know a jolly gent ??????
anyone going to name the obvious choice ?????
I think we all know who you mean but I'm not sure he'd be so jolly about the comparison.

The allies couldn't get involved in pitched firefights because they'd be in teams of 2 men maximum, like real sniper/hit teams. It would involve infiltration and then E&E rather than brute force because that's the nature of missions like this and what makes it so interesting.

When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
I must have missed that bit. I still think having even sides wouldn't be the best choice though. Plus having 10 teams would probably be too many and increase the chances of them being discovered, unless there were several, simultaneous objectives spread over a wide area.
The only problem with 'elite force vs garrison' sneaky beaky missions is that airsofters quite frankly dont have the skills.
You could give most of them cotton wool soled boots, equip the enemy with ear plugs and you'd still hear them crashing about miles away.
I can think of of the top of my head three peopel on this forum with the recce skills required to get in and out of a camp at night without being spotted.
Getting guys to play citezen soldiers who are neither well trained or alert is easy... getting them to play stealthy assassins who can walk across gravel soundlessly isnt going to happen.
The only way around it is to have some sort of roleplay device where they do somethig lame like hold a white card in the air to show they are suing 'stealth skills' during which time you cant acknowledge them etc.
its a cracking idea for a game but you have to vet your assassins very well.
The other problem you have is sentry alertness... if you guard the same place day in day out you stop really looking for suspicious stuff... a long time ago i spent some time guarding a TA centre and to be honest it was so boring i used to switch off a bit and you coudl have probably driven a car load of semtex up to me with twenty mortar tubes strapped to the roof rack and i wouldnt have noticed.
Now if you're in the field for just a day and you *know* you are going to get bumped you are hyper aware and its much harder for an attacker.
