Ok, hot on the trail of the UCAP announcement....

we've had an idea to run a more authentic/ Milsim game ( shock no boozing)

Basic Idea is :-

Commando style raid / part escape and evasion in August /September next year

30 germans , 10 allied. Full 24 hour game .

The twist is we would make it authentic only , so both sides have to do the full lot in authentic kit and camping . Bit more of a reeanctment on both sides . Germans would have proper patrolling , tasks to complete etc, whilst hunting down the Allies.
Allies would have to evade , reconoitre and put in an attack on the Germans at some point during the weekend . If captured they would have to be guarded in the German base and could escape ....or could spend 23 hours of very boring airsoft .

The game would be run far more on period military style operations , unlike our normal events, and would run for the full 20- 24 hours. No social , no stopping .

it's a lot harder core than that which we've done before . I've played this type of game before , 3 times on the hunter side , and although it sounds boring the tension mounts and mounts, so that when the action comes it's complete adrenalin rush time .

From the allied point of view you have to be pretty fit and very mentally prepared ..it's not one for couch potatoes , I've seen Royal Marines flake out 18 hours in .

Anyway , don't need scenario ideas , but would like to guage interest in running such a game .

Over to you gents , ladies

I quite fancy giving this a go, as much as I enjoy the social I think I could forgo it just this once. Always wanted to try something along these lines and doing it ww2 style would just make it even better. I'd be happy to play either side but think I would probably be better suited to playing German.

Count me in. I'd even consider "going allied" for it.

Very interesting idea indeed. It would seem Allied would be more fun.... unless you got captured. :o

This sounds so cool.

I'd definitely be up for it as one of the allies :D

Since the numbers are slightly skewed are there any restrictions on applying? I can think of a few teams out in the general airsoft world that would happily buy all the kit and basically take over the entire allied side.

Guy - you've mentioned you've done this before. Are you referring to the E&E games the IED lads have done previously?

Easy to sort that Che. Turn up friday, get bladdered. Game on 12:00 hrs Saturday, finish 1200 hrs Sunday.

Means we get a social, plus, game on at 12:00 Hrs sat means hangovers can be worked off by then :)

No we don't. I think thats snypers point; there may need to be restrictions to stop it happening.

Ah, I see - sorry - misunderstood the whole point of Scott's post - durr!  . Members only then?

If it's a true 24-hour game, then it might be wise not to have terrain that's too ball-breaking as well, otherwise there will be casualties!

Well its going to need to be quite challenging (& large) or the Commandos might be too easy to find. As Guy says you'd need to be well prepared for playing on the allied side. Thats why I would probably opt to play German; as much as I'd like to play allied I'm not sure my fitness levels are up to the task. Much easier to thumb a lift from the blaggers.

Yep, fair enough - just no mountains, please!

So is it decided if it's Brits or Yanks ? If Brits, then I'm tentatively volunteering!

Chances are I'd command the Allied side, so you'd all need to pass my fitness test. ;)

We wouldn't want to do a disservice to our membership. I certainly wouldn't want to see an entire group of geardo wannabes taking the places of our regulars.

 dependant on where and when, I would be interested in this. I'd be opting for german and hopefully would have my landser kit running by then, so I should be able to slot in nicely.

I'll almost certainly go allied if the scenario is free ranging enough (ie, given a large area to play over, rather than being "scripted"). I did E&E in the army and I loved it. Perversely, I even got some enjoyment during TQ (tactical questioning) when I got captured! I may not be super fit but I'm a plodder with a stubborn mindset.
