As well as shooting people, I like stuff like mine-detecting / clearing, as per Op Ariel. Also, firing some larger ordnance, like a mortar is great fun. Can someone build a couple of infantry howitzers, please?
Preparing positions, MG nests, etc is good, too.
I'm not that fussed about big bangs, if it means more of the above. (I must admit I don't even know what the big bangs at DH were about.

Principally CiA games mark themselves as metal tests and attempt to instil something of what if might have felt like to be on the front line in WW2. In other words, what you are wearing has little significance, it isn't a fashion parade nor a demonstration of how deep your pocket is, they are just work clothes. It is about how you react to stress, boredom, confusion, exhaustion, frustration. It isn't about theory or instruction manuals or airsoft games in the 'open day' sense. Within the scenario can be found humour or even hilarity, comradeship and team spirit. And it isn't the outcome that matters, its the journey.
Every CiA event is unique and brings a different aspect of warfare to the fore, often historically specific to the day, the place and the participants. If history matters to you then there is background that can be researched but a chance to dress up and shoot people is equally valid - after all, what we do is not only living history but personal entertainment too.
We seek out unique sites all over England and Wales in which to play out these scenarios, we devise scenarios to fit the sites or find the sites to fit the scenarios.
Every event we have laid on has been completely different - 2011 will see three more unique scenarios and will bring something that will appeal to everyone. Everyone that likes the CiA style that is!
So much for Comrades in Arms objectives. On a personal level, my preference is less of the shooty bit and more of the sneaky, creeping about, planning and trying to keep one step ahead of the enemy and for this reason my favourite game thus far has been Op Jedburgh with Op Ariel and Bryansk coming second and third.

my favorite 3 games were Borzyn loop, then ariel, then huskey. ive enjoyed all the cia games ive been to, some were better than others, but all enjoyable
as for the future, more of the same is good for me.
mine clearing, recces, mortars, human wave charges, firefights were ammo runs out very quick and a mix of urban/tunnels and woodland ![]()

There was a fair bit of non-combat stiff at Il Gigio which was huge fune - notably cocking about with the field telephones, building my MG 'bunker' and watching the Brits pratting about with our minefield. Maybe I'm just lazy?

verry specific objectives and a good CO who can instill order and urgence when needed, also suspence, some of the most atmospheric moments are amplified by suspence.its like a good horror film ,your waiting getting tense then an explosion of action, sort of less is more and im not sure where i read this in another thread but battle is a thing of lulls then peaks,i know were there to pack as mutch as we can into a day but without the suspence its a lesser experience for me,plus it doesent need expensive props.when i first started airsoft nearly 14 years ago there was just 4 of us sneaking around a bit of land at a secret location just outside the spraling metropolis
and we used to play two on two a sort of hide and seek and a game could take 44-60 min and the suspence set your nerves jangling ,it was really something

er that was an AGs game , nowt to do with CIA I'm afraid . Confusing I know , since comrades in arms used to be a generic term for WW2 airsoft.

Yes! Being an Engineer on the Brit side, having to diffuse the mines and 'blow up' the road blocks either aided by a diversion or while under fire had a really good feel to it. I never got a single confirmed kill, and only reloaded my bolt action's tiny mag three times during the whole day, yet it was the "being in the war-zone" rather than the actual shooting that excited.

Yes, perhaps, but the title is "What do you like in a game?" No game organiser was specified. What macscrooge and myself like in a game, was catered for at that particular AGS game

For me this weekends game went pretty close to my ideal game! There was clear objectives and a command structure which players followed very well! The objectives weren't over elaborate and the terrane varied and added to it! I would like to see an even simpler aproach sometimes, something along the lines of securing a cross roads or hill, digging in and repulsing attacks! If we loose the position, re-organising to retake it. I think this would represent the period war fare well. I would like some actual digging in, filling sandbags, preparing defences and patrols and stag duties! Most the games I've played have been fairly "mobile" affairs. Just a few ideas

setting up defensive position ,that would be good.

We did all of that at Il Giogo pass! You were just on the wrong side!

And... (shameless plug), there will be lots of that for the Russians at Sevastopol too!
“I wanted to come to the Volga at a specific location at a specific city. By chance it carries the name of Stalin himself. So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."

We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."

CiA have done quite a few events where digging in has been part of the scenario, for both sides!
Our first ever game had the Americans filling sandbags and reinforcing positions for the first half hour or so.
I remember Webby and I dug a full MG emplacement for The Eagle Has Landed. The Germans were mine clearing and building defences at Aerial for the first few hours and the German emplacements at Jedburgh were really impressive!
