Conventional military wisdom states that in order to carry out a successful attack you need to tick most of the following boxes.

1. Numerical superiority of minimum 3 preferably 4 or more to 1.

2. The element of surprise.

3. Flanking attacks co-ordinated with the frontal assault.

4. Massive pre-emptive bombardment.

5. Air superiority.

Seeing as we have none of the above we should be prepared for lots of dying early on. I suggest we die in droves and give the Germans a fun day out - I'm sure they'll repay the favour at some point in the future (say a Kursk game).

We can view our first few forays up the beach as reconnaissance to establish where their strong points are before, inevitably, getting shot.

Once we've lulled them into a false sense of security, and by then we should know where they're dug in, we can swiftly reform into our squads, like a well oiled machine, and concentrate everybody on one weak spot.

If they are relying on emplaced mgs and hard points it will be difficult for them to be strong everywhere over 3-500m. If we can find a soft spot and force them to have to relocate out of their bunkers/foxholes to meet us, then they will have lost that advantage.

lol i love your confidence guys but the points well taken. until we do find a soft spot to smash into we're going to get shot a bit. so we need to make good use of our medics etc like we did at wotan

Good post Barrie, spot on.

It's going to be tough getting off the beach, no doubting that - think SPR!
But, by attrition you will manage it (and after all, two days trying to get off a beach wouldn't be much of a game would it? ).

+1 Nice one Barrie !

Given it's high tide at game on , and your regen with be at most 20 m behind you , then yes , swarm up the beaches , get mowed down and then do it some more. If you all sneak out of the LC's and go to ground ....well it just won't be right . After a few swarms I'm sure you'll have established a beachhead , with the Krauts in retreat.

The watching of Saving Private Ryan should be mandatory for both sides, as with Wotan this event should be a hoot !

yep cant wait :) its pretty much a given we'll be mangled to begin with but if we play smart we should be able to clear them off.

move in small groups as big groups attract fire.
move from cover to cover.
when moving move eratically so you're harder to hit.
keep low.
conserve ammo until your right on top of them, remember you can only re-arm at a cp.
make good use of medics and the sancturay rule

Think it would be a good idea for thoes of us going up on the friday to take a little "walk" around the area and check out the enemy positions and the terrain as well as formulate tactics.
