Thinking abut my earlier observations....
it occired to me that the uk airborne should go in first, sending them in after the beach makes no sense and is historical nonesense, it doens teven fit in with filmsim ,the paras go in to capture bridges and take out bateries so the landing can be dne, not the other way round , this also gets outhte stiting around doing nothing problme.
also *telling* players their atack fails at 2pm is bloody stupid, who wants to make any effort if youknow that whatever you do you are rules by a timeline and wilfail at 2pm. You may as wel sit and wait.
Its one thing feeling you are up against it but knwing you can never win is another, players should alwys feel their actions make a difference and the game system shoudl be flexible enough to allow the vicory conditions to shift if it goes horriucally one way or another.
You have to ask the question, are the gemans allowed to win this ne or is it being rigged for an allied win.
If you're quite happy to have the allies never technicaly getting off the beach cos the germans are a good side of players then timetabling inland missions for 7am the next day is sort of pointless.
I'm all for rigging a scenario to get deisred result and a more dramtic day but making it transparent is not good.
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
I think this is running order for our benefit - timings aren't public. Guy has been sorting out the impossible scenario that Josh originally had which was made impossible by the dunes being split into two by the council bods.
That make smore sense, i just saw it as a whole block of text with 'josh wants this in the open forums'
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Hope not! I'm sure Guy will make things clear - it seems we have ended up (with the council's intervention ) two areas - beach plus a bit of dunes and bit of dunes and the woods.
Anyhoo, over to Guy when he rolls in from lunch!
Sorry was in a rush so not made it clear.
Josh wanted to post this on the open forum to show players what to expect. I've told him that's a silly idea and they only need "the story" the event timelines we'll keep to ourselves so we can flex them to suit the gameplay .
Initially he wanted to have two battles to start with , one no the beach and at the same time paras vs germans in the wood. I've convinced him this is unfair as I suspect all players will want to play at least for a short time no the beach .
The purpose was to show you what I had been given before I cut it down ot CiA size for posting here.
BTW Josh is a diagnosed profound dyslexic, he freely admits that writing and reading are bad for him so read all stuff he gives us in this light.
He wanted to put that public?!?!
Makes one wonder a little, no?
Aaanyway. Completely agree that all that's needed is a scenario outline like we do with a rules post (BTW have we actually got these in concrete yet, and is Josh giving the same information to everyone who's booked?).
Josh'll run the game to the timings he wants, players don't need to know squat about it.
Also it would be dumb to think that people will be happy to sit out of the game for ANY length of time (can you imagine the Gregory's doing that?!?) and also to put a D-Day beach game together then isolate a section away from the damned beach which is why most people would have booked.
Still want me to edit or...???
Nah I've edited it to this , any volunteer ot be German Commander?

Battle for Normandy 2007
24hr battle weekend, Candleston, South Wales.
November 3rd - 4th 2007
Welcome to Gunman Airsoft 24hr WWII Battle weekend
The battle will kick off 12pm Saturday and finish 12pm Sunday with players allowed on site from 6pm Friday
The site has 4 miles of sand dunes and 100+ of acres of woodland and scrubland. Perfect for a Normandy landing weekend, this area around the coast of the Bristol Channel was used for training by Allied soldiers during the war and makes the most fitting site for such a game you’ll ever play on.
GUNMAN will be providing a number of vehicles to be used in the game as well as field artillery, outposts, gun emplacements and the very best props and set dressings. GUNMAN is made up of experienced organisers that have been running professional events since 1993.
June 6th Omaha Beach 1200hrs .
With a start slightly delayed from the planned dawn assault, the Allied forces will storm the beach to be met by the veteran Landser’s defending the West Wall from behind their bunkers. As one of the main troop transports was hit by a mine in the channel some UK forces have been diverted to help their US Allies, all under the overall command of Colonel Josh Smith .
The Landsers defending this stretch of beach are not the usual collection of Fortification troops, but include elements of elite Panzer and SS Regiments . Having fought in Russia, Afrika and Europe, they will be aware that the eyes of the Reich are on them , and will not yield ground without great loss.
D day will be won or lost in these crucial first few hours, with the Allies needing to get off the beach and push inland to establish a Forward Command Point to support the waves of troops following up . If the Allies are successful in establishing a beachhead , then their next task will be to clear the roads and tracks allowing armour and reinforcements inland , all the while under threat of German counter attacks that could scupper their invasion within the first six hours of landing on French soil .
Intelligence has also suggested that the Germans have heavy artillery hidden deep within woods approximately 1km behind the beach , and if the Allies can’t break through quickly, then Airborne troops will be used to attack these guns . Destruction of this threat will be key to the Allies making progress up the beach .
On DDay +1 from dawn till midday , the battle will take to the hinterland, as both sides wrestle to control the many vital points of defence and communication . This will be a war of annihilation, as both sides fight full out to push the other out of areas of control .
There can be only one winner , your blood sweat and tears will decide who .
Referees
Due to the size of the site and numbers taking part, there will be a number of refs keeping an eye on the action, dealing with any issues be them in-game or out of game so you, the player can enjoy the experience. They will be clearly identifiable . Each ref will carry a radio, whistle and med pack for scratches and scrapes. Marshalls will also be present to help with keeping the public away and keeping the game running smoothly.
We hope to have the St Johns on board as well although this will be confirmed closer to the event .
Oh God, how are we suddenly running the game and commanding??
I don't mind doing it but would need you guys as NCOs.
BTW: Like the version you've posted here. We need to have a careful think about regens for the morning game and how they're going to work and also think of subplots incase everything goes tits up.
S
Happy to command a section, would rather not OC though, mainly as im only badged up as CSM.
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Happy to do whatever needs doing. As long as I have plenty of coffee and cigs to keep me going
When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........
Josh has just posted the info. Just for clarity I edited the grammar and spelling a little and put some formatting in. Hope no-one minds.
Thanks
