Game review - Devil's Hill

Bad backs seemed to be a theme, Tiny woke up this morning in a real bad way with his back, he felt auful, so we left site about 10am which is the point he decided it wasnt going to get any better.
i know another person also had back trouble on saturday.

as for saturdays game, i had a really good time, some great play on both sides, and some very good exchanges of fire. The bunker was so difficult to see and caused the americans a real headache, the dense tree cover almost made tanaka rifles useless, i used my springer pistol more than my rifle, when the shots were there, it was great, but most of the day i had to down the rifle due to minimum engagement or no line of sight, and try and get close enough to use the pistol.

the were far to many MOTHS flying around at night, and several thing got chewed full of holes

also i attended my first social for a long time, and though it wasnt as late as previous ones, i had a great laugh and giggle all the same. it was good to see some old faces and catch up.

i was going to post up pictures, but im at the in-laws and the mother in laws CRAP-top wont communicate with my camera.

I thought i was on a winner last night and that my back was doing well but i wish i'd have taken a bigger tent and a cotbed, cos my back certainly didnt like sleeping rough. Anyway, apologies to all who played for bailing out today. I did consider hanging on so Porta could get in todays game but i just wanted to get home and pop some tramadol.

As always, I thoroughly enjoyed saturdays events. The site was great(especially that bunker) and i got some good kills in, including a single shot kill with the MG42 . Thanks to the organisers and players for making the day i managed to play a fantastic one.

Anyway, its more pills time and pass out watching telly time for me.

As the site operator at Cerberus I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who attended this event. I'll admit WW2 isn't my cup of tea but I was taken by the enthusiam and effort you all put into it, a good few regular players could learn a lot from you. Also, thanks to the organisers because with the work they put in our involvment was minimal. Anyway, you're welcome back anytime you like and we'll try to arrange some better weather for you next time. Hope you all got home safely and have dried out a bit.

To be non biased and honest i didnt have the best of first days , it started off really well , squads moved under orders and we quickly gained an advantage. We then took a few casualties and things started to get out of hand.
People quickly forgot there squads and "did there own thing".
This event was NOT about being rambo or "doing your own thing" it was about comrades and team play.
We had a few people that I had not seen before and I was concerned for them as groups of 2 or 3 would sneak off and come back with tails of how they got behind the enemy etc etc, well that is all fine and good in open day play but Not CIA games.
CIA games for me have always been about stepping away from the open day mentallity and atleast attempting to act like soldiers. Although i do appreciate that after jedburgh people wanted something a bit different, which is fine.

But While you were off being heroic you left your squad mates exposed and the game quickly fell apart.
At one point I personally got really annoyed and had to go and sit on the road. I bumped into guy and I apologise to you guy for what i said, i was just pissed at the general attitude of a few players. This was because germans had our regen point almost surrounded and on several occassions on trying to reach the regen i was shot by automatics at close range in the face, i was already dead and had my gun in the air. I dont blame the germans for this as it was dark and movement is movement. But it took me ages to locate the allies who were spread all over the place and i heard, on more than one occassion people questioning orders and complaining.
When you play these kind of games the organisers work really hard to put the game on, write the scenario, co-ordinate the game and keep people together. This is done the CIA way and I personally think people should respect that.
Its no ones place to question orders, not a real solider or a airsofter because if you do, things will go down hill really quickly.

That being said I really enjoyed myself when everyone played as a team and i respect both Pete and Headshot for pulling things back into line.
The rain really added to the atmosphere for me also and created a mind set of "imagine what this would have been like in the 1940's"
The site was good, even after the dick at the start of the day with his poor attitude got our backs up.

The social was good, i especially liked the way yith got mad about his flag and someone shouting something about moths!!

The second day was my highlight, we worked well as a squad for the majority of the game ,we did have a couple of people go slightly "off task" but on the whole it was good.
The allies followed orders and moved up that hill really fast. People seemed to be looking after each other also which is aways good to see.
I got shot in the face (thanks for that lol) , sprained my ankle and got soaked but i loved it.
Really looking forward to next year now.

Also want to thank craig and dean for doing a great job organising the allies when things went to pot.
Chommers , kermit and guy for doing a great job with the germans.
Dave barret for the stew (it was bloody lovely)
and i think a mention to private johnny who followed every order he was given and never questioned anything, nice one.
oh and the cow that kept me up half the night moo-ing next to my tent

Great getting back in the CiA Event Saddle. Glad i managed to wrangle off work commitments.

Fantastic catching up with old faces that i've not seen for ages. Good spending time with some of our newer members. Those on the German side played with grit, determination and followed orders and also provided their incite to situations when called for.

I didn't even take to the field my favorite rifle, but played all weekend with an M14 which i rebuilt during the week. apart from some battery issues, it served me very well, sorry Yanks.

Do not try and go 'ethnic' and put rye bread wrapped in greaseproof papers, repro label and string etc in your breadbag when the weather is like it was today.

And don't just stuff a packet of fags in your pocket either - I would lay them all out to dry but I need some kind of forensics lab to work out where one tobacco-y mush ends and another starts.

My first CiA event and had a brilliant time, it really did feel like history come to life (certainly the wet, cold and knackered bit!). Good to meet lots of new people and was very impressed by the cameraderie and teamwork, thanks to all the organisers for making the game work so well.

Well then 'reviews', as it is.

Well obviously the weekend was a corker, they always are and I thoroughly enjoyed all of it (now I am sat on a sofa in a dry t-shirt). I did wimp out of the last hour-ish on the Sunday, as with a dead battery I was able to contribute nothing but my looks - and they have seen better days. For that I apologise to my fellow infantry men, for they deserve better from me.

The Glider fellows are always fun to frolic with and this last weekend was no exception. PvtJohnny, who was the only one of the Gliders I had not met before I think, It was pleasure. I could imagine it would have been rather intimidating hanging out with this bunch of lunatics for the first time on a windy rain swept moor, but I thought you mucked in great me'laddo and look forward to fighting with you in the infantry another - hopefully dryer - day.

SO, my favourite part? I could go with my 'hard point of death' in the defensive line where I actually killed people. But really it was in the boulders at the end of Saturday, Hubert sniping at our defensive position whilst we ridiculed him and laughed because the officer's were not there. 'Should we mount a patrol and try flush hi out?' 'bugger that, let him keep missing .' Skiving, proper soldiering. Love it.

First of all, a huge thanks to the guys who lent me kit! It was much appreciated. The weekend was tops and exactly what I'd hoped for! The whole group was friendly and the yanks all watched out for me and never criticised my inexperience! Cheers! For me Saturday was a slog and I'd have to agree with slippy on how we (allies) lost cohesion! However, I still enjoyed getting my arse chewed up by the kraut bunker team! I think I died several times without seeing a soul!

Todays game was up a level! From the off it was excellent! The game was well planned and delivered. The rain and terrain combined with the tactics all really put you there! Our early defence and patrols were great and authentic feeling! Our move through the trees, encountering pockets of resistance was great. Then came the pyro's and the advance up hill! From this point the nco leadership was tops and our cover and move advances most realistic! After being pushed to our left flank and told to advance I and another glider rider got left behind as the 82nds momentum swung everyone round right and up the hill! However, we managed to slot 2 jerries whilst out there then we located and followed Chomley and a squad of Jerries up the hill (on my belly for most the way)! Each time they stopped to reorganise in a huddle my attempts to frag their asses was thwarted by the wet! Having made the tree line to our extreme left the 82nd put in their main assault! Whilst distracted and drawn by this, jerry left their right flank open! We 2 glr's got up the hill and took advantage of the main thrust to slot several krauts! And the end "death or glory" charge was class
All in all a top weekend and thanks for the mention Slippy, I knew my place lol! I'm hooked now and can't wait for more action! Special mention to the north east lads and to yith for the pistol and fastening my gators! Cheers!

Hello! 7 hours travelling in damp clothes - you can't beat it!

Thanks to the organisers, and all participants, who played in the spirit of things. Especially the first-tmers, for whom this was something different. I hope you are all bitten by the bug.

It was a great social, and so nice to meet friends old and new. Negatives: getting owned in the first 5 minutes - we were supposed to ambush you! Positives - the hill was awesome, and I thought we worked well as a team, over the w/e. I do also like the other soldierly stuff, like mine-clearing, preparing positions, as per Ariel.

I didn't like the extra-game activity - lots of vehicles up and down the road, which didn't help with the suspension of disbelief.

Good game and nice to see some new faces.

After a dreadful first couple of hours things got a lot better with the krauts working as squads and putting in some good tactical shenanigans, which was very hard to do in such dense woodland where keeping contact with more than three others was impossible.

Sunday just sucked. I hate rain. Plus, after a abstaining from excess alcohol and getting a great night's sleep, I was as then sick as a dog all morning which didn't improve my temper.

YouTube is best way. Just make sure to disable comments otherwise you'll have a dozen idiot american kids telling you that an MG42 isn't a WWII gun and similar nonsense.

WW2 Airsoft experience No.3 for me.

First day was a little frustrating going up against the MG42's all the time and getting well riddled! But Sunday was great! Great fun especially the final charges over open ground with a soundtrack of "Ilkley Moor bah't hat" and Chomley-Warner taunting!

Me and Pvtjohnny ended up separated from the main US force and so went on a sneaky movement round the left flank the only problem being that the grenade wouldn't light or several Germans would have have been caught out totally! Was almost shot by Yith though at the top of the hill............

The period camp was top class and cheers to everyone there for making it look as right as possible and for the big tarp to protect us from the damp............!

So all in all I ended up grinning like a maniac at the end of Sunday! Good show!
