30AU seem to have had a great degree of personal freedom with kit but a lot seem to go for Battledress, denisons or windproof smocks and commando berets.

One guy has a whermacht sports vest on!

For insignia it looks like rank only even on BD, with a Royal Marines badge (Kings Crown) on what I assume is a green commando beret.

In addition to what Gadge says there's also some leather jerkins and scrim scarves.

For webbing, who knows? Most only seem to have belt order in those pics. This would seem sensible though.

I've been trying to find the beret colour - not sure if it isn't navy or black even!

Yeah... I'd have thought though since they're a commando unit that it would be commando green.

Agreed - veteran reunion pics show them wearing green berets, so that's sorted!

If you want the loan of it Dave I have a WWII kings crown RM cap badge.

One backing pin lug is snapped but it could be sewn onto a beret or glued to a backing board and pinned?

Thats what i call planning :)

With Guy and Kermit not having allied kit and Steve not having UK i thought it was a given you'd be taking the brits :)

I think allied agents in civvies would look amazing and really add to the atmosphere, ditto for abwehr, might lead to some real 'target confusion' and good opportunities for sneakng about as it would be hard to tell what side a civvy was on.

Are the Yanks and Brits going to be in direct competition then? That could turn out interesting, might turn into a 3 way royal rumble.

Although with only one winner if it went to 20 vs 10 vs 10.

I imagine there will be healthy competition between the allies to be the first to achieve objective (i.e more impetus) but outward hostilities doesnt seem liek a great stategy :)

Erm.. probably not the best place to put this but it seemed a waste of a new thread.

Not sure if this is any use to anyone but I can lend a Belgian Denison, 2 Commando badged Green beret, a full set (no entrenching tools) of blanco'd webbing with revolver holster and an MT belt set Blanco'd with two pouched, .45 holster and unblanco'd us double mag pouch on? Also got a resi bag and three ammo/ field telephone (not sure which) bags.

All for lend on a break/ pay basis for Die Glocke'.
