Not especially Rich, you'd be using whatever you were trained with. If anything you'd have an M1 Carbine.

just out of interest, have the germans faced a 'horde' of M1 garands before? Or will we be breaking new ground. 
So will occifer Yith be fighting with us as normal? Or taking a role similar to lightning?

Excellent. We only need three more infantry and we have a full sized squad (I have been doing some US squad tactics research see, because it's more interesting then the research I am meant to be doing).

Only snag with 1st Lieutenant is that they wouldn't have been likely to have been leading a platoon early on in the war. 1st Lieutenant is like a Ex-O to the Captain, 2nd Lieutenants were usually the platoon leaders. But it's up to you I guess. The pips go on the shoulders of the M42 jump jacket too, do you have 3 of the 1st Lt ones?
Well I have the branch of service for the 505th, crossed rifles with 505 written underneath, but its only details anyway isnt it!

I think it was being more a para weapons support group assigned to the Glider boys for the assualt.
