Below are some photographs of the landings and time shortly there-after during Operation Dragoon. There are some pics of the German POWs for reference, these are the best quality photographs that we have found so far.

Would appear that the US (albeit 3rd ID not 36th ID) have ditched the M41 jacket, and are wearing EM shirts, mustard trousers and a mixture of Roughouts w/leggings, buckleboots and Corcoran boots. Few helmet nets too

Some FFI on the last one.

Looks like a normal M3 halftrack with high sides.. Could this possibly be a version of the canvas dd tank skirts that were used on d-day?

Nope, it's an m15a1 Halftrack used exclusively(with the m16s) by anti aircraft unit's. (my great grandfather was in the 390th AAA (SP) BN (anti aircraft artillery (self propelled) battalion)) However, when they were attatched to the 26th (YD) infantry, it was also used for house clearance, and supporting fire for troops.
they also, during the battle of the bulge, towed tanks up hills ( as the sherman's were not able to move forward on a steep incline with ice) (they were equipped with one 37mm cannon averaging 120 rounds per minuite, and two browning .50's)
here's a link with some more details.
