OK here is my take on the Fliegerbluse. For those who want a cheap `Cool` alternative to a nice real hot one. Take your pick this cost £10 for the Swedish Tunic £3.80 for the Dye and £7 for the collar tabs other expenses a little blood from stabbing my fingers

OK you need

1.Wool Swedish Tunic- Size doesn`t matter really as you only need the collar there are a lot of WW1 Swedish ones which are also OK, they have slightly bigger collars but they are more the shape of the early Fliegerbuse pattern the ones without the `Scalloped` lapels
2.A packet of cold water dye from Dylonhttp://www.dylon.co.uk/product.php?alias=fabric-dye-for-hand-use Jeans Blue. Don`t worry about the colour use the whole packet with 6lts of water plenty of salt and leave it for 24hours.
3. Collar Tabs from this chap http://stores.ebay.co.uk/S-E-Militaria?_trksid=p2047675.l2563he is brilliant and free P&P. Just make sure you ask if they are the lemon yellow collar tabs or the more Sunflower darker yellow

OK look at the pictures and cut down as much as you see fit. I left the inner canvass liner to hold it all together and just cut off the excess. You end up with a Cool waistcoat type affair not bad for £20 all in. Enjoy :D-- attachment is not available ---- attachment is not available ---- attachment is not available --

Thats excellent Gordon... Thanks.
The only problem now is that every place selling cheap Swedish tunics will be out of stock for two months due to demand!

Often used by Waffen SS re-enactors, known as 'dickies' in those circles.

Apologies for the necro post, but two quick questions on the fliegerbluse:
1) It was issued to all Luftwaffe ground troops, even the Field Division guys - or did the FD troops get the regular M40/42/43 tunics?
2) Was there ever a HBT version of the fliegerbluse in the same way that there were HBT versions of the M42/43 tunic?

Interested in doing a basic FD impression, but the wool/overheating issue is a slight concern at this moment (if one does not make use of the "dickie" system showcased above).

Later in the war LFDs were all issued normal army kit (especially once they were absorbed by the Heer), including M43 jackets etc. This led to an entertaining variety of jackets & insignia, even within individual units, as well as luftwaffe insignia on army gear etc.

There is a decent LFD reenactor site here with all you need to know about LFD uniforms and a good batch of photographs.
