I would like to ask what members of the forum opinion of the 'new' stock FJ Splinter B Bone sack from Richard Underwood? http://www.richardaunderwood.com/index.php?cPath=25_38

I woud especially like to hear from the 'stitch nazi's' as I may want to use this bone sack for reenacting as well as airsoft.........

Any takers?

Thanks in advance.

"Stitch Nazis" ?? You do have a way with words, honestly. :? It is the Spearhead smock, considered to be one of best cheaper smocks around, unless you want to start spending two or three times that price.

:giggle: Bit blunt? Sorry chaps, I'll be a lot more sensitive around you lot.... :ghey:
NO ill was intended by using the expression which I have seen used on this forum before.......
Next time I will ask if 'Someone thought to be obsessed with authenticity' can please step forward and give me their opinion so that I don't waste my hard earned cash buying poor immitations....I'd like to get it right first time, every time.......

Isn't it a common term used among reenactors.....
Stitch-Nazi: Someone thought to be obsessed with authenticity. A relative term.http://historicgames.com/glossary.html

If it offends....ooops! Will delete from vocabulary........"deleted!" :giggle:

It is the spearhead smock, with more then a nod and a wink to the GMAX product. Having said that it is good and improvement over previous efforts. Also Richard gets the Adler sewn on and to do this the pocket lining has to be removed. It is suitable for reenacting and airsoft. You cannot go wrong from buying from Richard, sound bloke with great advice and kit.

Thanks for the pointers....I have bought from Richard before. His kit is good.
I had to ask the question becuase I know some are really 'tight' on splinter A versus B, and then add the authentic look of the B camo itself which in itself can draw criticisms.

Oh dear, :ghey-fight:

You'll find that you'll get a much better response from people if you word your posts with a bit more thought. As for being a "role model", I get enough of that shite at work, so, if I'm too blunt for you, tough shit.

Hmmm, on one post you state you want to wear what the hell you like to an event regardless of authenticity and scenario and just shoot people, on the next you are asking for ultimate authenticity in attire.

It's nothing to do with people's sensitivity (a strange accusation to make, especially to people you don't know) but more to do with a perception that you are a wind up merchant judged by the words you write.

THAT is why your fellow forum users are getting narked at you.

THAT is why your fellow forum users are getting narked at you.

Thanks for the advice....sincerely ........I will work on this......

Please allow me make to clarify two distinct issues that could be confusing the matter:

(a)I am genuinely interested in buying as authentic looking kit as possible, if not the 'real deal'. I am sure I don't stand alone on this matter of not wanting to look too FARB.

(b) I have all my SS kit, am busy collecting FJ kit, and intend to get wehrmacht kit in the near future. For argument sake.....If I wanted to dress up as a 'red bunny with purple spots' and that is what a gameday scenario permits in the rules who is to say I'm not allowed to/may gripe at this. I believe that if someone has a problem with the uniform of which ever branch you may be wearing whether it be SS/wehrmacht/FJ/etc (and same applies for tommy and yank uniform variations) then thats their problem, as long as Kit rules allow for the uniform you're wearing that day! In that 'sense' I stated that I don't give a hoot what uniform I am wearing .....and if the opfors uniform is not to my liking ...hell then I go all out to mow them down.......NB: Please note that I did not use the word 'authentic' when discussing this in my comments made else where on this forum.

Any other ideas that may have been read into my comments are the opinions of others ....not mine.

I will try best to clarify what I amean and in what sense /context I mean it.........thanks for the pointers once more. :good:

I take it that the pattern of the camo is pretty accurate then. Thanks.

It is a reasonable splinter B yes.
To make a qualitative judgment, it gives a good bang for the buck.
Not the most accurate, nor the most expensive. The faults are minor and hard to spot when worn.
The base colour is a little bit brown for my taste, I lean towards grey/green, but others swear by it.

How does the Zib-Militaria FJ smock compare with 'new' stock FJ Splinter B Bone sack from Richard Underwood?

Not very well?
Zib seems to use Sturm for much of their kit.
Some Sturm stuff if OK, some is crap.
Their [sturm] green step in is a great colour but lacking in some detail points. Only a real FJR anorak[smock] would notice.
The Sturm Sumpf print is not too bad, miles better than it used to be.
Unless there has been a big change the splinter they use is type A, that is wrong for Lufty smocks. Should be splinter B.

Thanks for the input.....But then who then really sells a top notch 'rolls royce' FJ smock? is there a smock out there that can carry the label 'best'?

Agreed Panther is considered good, you might need to ask them to add a couple of inches to the length. Some feel it's a little short.

I recently bought myself a Mk2 FSJ smock at Spearhead. Which is 'good enough' for me. And priced 'a bit less' then the panzer-store one ;)
