Heyya Guys,

I brought a M38 helmet off the forum some time ago, it needed alot of tlc.

I'm looking to respray it but don't know what colour to spray it. I've got a Splinter Jump smock so it's more of a mid-war I'm going for if that has anything to do with it

Here's some photos for the curious
Before

After

I have sanded it down since taken the photos

Thanks

I think standard RAL6006 would be correct. For a few years I wore mine blue, thinking that was early war. I'm so ashamed!

it all really depends on whether or not you want it specific to a unit/time frame or campaign, the easiest option would be a generic paint job then just wear a cover (you can swap out the covers for early/late war) or you can go with a tan/sand mix or a two tone pattern or a two tone paint job with sand mix or a 3 tone with sand.....well you get the idea

there's a lot of options but for a generic FJ i would recomend spraying it this colour http://www.epicmilitaria.com/army-spray ... -grey.html M38 FJ helmets followed the Heer guidelines when it came to painting helmets and as such M38 Blaugrau helmets didn't exist - would spray it using the paint above and add a luffty eagle to the side (again there's an early and late war eagle to choose from) and then use a splinter or green cover depending on the event :good:

before spraying though i would remove all the paint from your helmet and then clean it and prime it otherwise it may affect the finish

Nick
