Kameraden, i need some help. After my gas canister fell to pieces one its first use in January, i tried to buy a decent one via two suppliers. I gave up on the first one after three wrong or failed deliveries and now the next one cannot tell me where my package is. As there only few days left, i wonder, if anyone can help me out for the game. I would feel really bad nothing having this iconic piece of equipment.
Cheers

Well it looks like the Pionier Zug will be a formidable fighting force (on paper anyway) packing 2x MG42's and the 5cm mortar with (currently) 35 rounds of ammo. If anyone else wants to add to the mortar round tally then let Josh know in the appropriate thread, they are £4 a pop.

I think we should pass the mortar around so that those that have paid for rounds get to use them. Trust me it's a hell of a lot of fun to use! I'll do a quick H&S demo before we start so that everyone knows how to use it safely :good:

So what personal weapons is everyone going with? I'm going with my K98 running 350fps.

I am really looking forward to this one now! :happyswing:

Well if I'm going to be lugging the MG42 I'll be bringing the Luger as a personal defense weapon, I'll bring the MP40 as well as a back up, I've tinkered with the internals some and they now feed fine, so if anyone needs spare SRC mags just ask away :good:

I've fired a bullet on every continent. Nearly hit someone, too.

Well I'll be bringing the MG42 but will also have a Garand and K98 at base as back up or should the MG42 get too heavy to bother with. Tried on full kit the other day and with the weight of the 42 as well its a killer. :ghey:

Edit: Oh I forgot my springer p38 side arm, accurate up to a range of 5 feet

I shall bring my usual weapon of choice for Gunman games, M14/G43 with the new shortie mid-cap mags. K98 350fps springer as backup.

No pistols for me, just a rubber bayonet.

Cheers

I'll be using my K98, running at 350fps, plus a few grenades and smokes, although given the mortar firepower the smoke might be superfluous  . I'm lending my MP40 to my mate Barrie. I've got pioneer shoulder boards on both tunics, and McVickers is kindly lending my mate a helmet. Packed up all the gear today, and yes I'm looking forward to this :good: be good to see some familiar faces and some new ones.

I only have my MP40 and bring my 5cm mortar ammunition box which is currently turned into a Handgranatenkoffer. I am happy to take on an MG, if someone gets to tired to carry it.
Boshman, do you have an ammunition box for the mortar and shall we use mine?
Cheers

PS: Supplier promised delivery of a new gas canister by Friday. Will see.

I have a couple of MG ammo boxes which I will bring but as you have a proper 5cm ammo tun it would be shame not to use it. :good:

Keeping the squad cohesive will be important for us to fight effectively, no good if the man with the mortar ends up 20m from the man with the ammo! Same with the MG's need to no2's to keep close so they can take over and keep the suppressive fire up!

Lost gas canister arrived :happyclap: Ready to go!!
I am really excited now. It looks like we are going to have an impressive Zug. :happydance:

Agree that we now have to work together effectively. Team work in gruppen as well as Zug and Gruppenfuehrer will be important.... And some kind of strategy. :D

Unfortunately my K98 is out of service at the mo, so its the MP40 for me - shame as I'd take range and accuracy over an automatic weapon :x

Gents, it looks like I may have to go the way of the Fallschirmjager for this. I've had a uniform on order for two months; it had to be sent back as the tunic was a bit small, but it's taken a month to get this sorted out and now I'm hanging on hoping that it'll be here tomorrow morning. Not holding my breath.

Suffice to say, slightly arsed off. I told him repeatedly that I needed it this weekend. Got invoiced for the return postage yesterday, at 12:00pm, but no details how to pay him, no response to e-mails, so I've missed yesterday's post as well.

I could have got the f*cking one ring to Mordor in the time it's taken to sort this out.

Nightmare! What size are you? Is it just the tunic you are lacking?

44" chest, 36" waist. I'd originally ordered a 42" but it was a bit tight across the shoulders (and by shoulders, I mean gut). Trousers were fine.

At the moment my Heer uniform consists of a cap, insignia (with nothing to stitch them on to), bread bag, belt and buckle. I'm using my ICS Garand so spare mags and what not can go in the bread bag; I need to sort out an MP40 or Kar98 at some point.

It just irritates me. Hell, if he'd only included the PayPal details yesterday I could have paid and got it sorted out and hopefully in the post. Not like I haven't been reasonable; straight away said I'd pay the return postage on the uniform as getting the correct size is my responsibility. There were endless delays over getting a uniform in the correct sizes. In the end had to just say 'everything in large, please' or otherwise I'd be waiting for the November game for a uniform.

Generally I'm fairly laid back about this sort of thing; mistakes happen, etc etc, but there does come a point when all the patience in the world wears thin.

I'm bringing a Heer tunic size 42/44 which Chris from the 34th has brought from me to add to their loan kit for their games. Pending his Permission I'm sure you could borrow it for the event. :good: my MP40 is miss-feeding at the moment otherwise I would happily loan you it. I can loan mp40 mag pouches is someone else in the squad could loan an MP40?

I've got a spare jacket but not a 44" chest I'm afraid.

Keeping the squad cohesive will be important for us to fight effectively

My general experience is that the sections which stick together are the ones which do OK, just doing that will give us a huge advantage over the ones who like to ramble off. I've been to so many games where you start with fifteen people in you section and ten minutes later it is down to half a dozen in the immediate vicinity and never see the others again all day.

If we can pull off some attempt at fire & movement when attacking (as opposed to everyone just diving for the nearest tree), that would be great. Ideally alternating truppen, but I suspect practically, short rushes as that is all I've ever seen anyone manage even under Ramsays bellowing leadership.

We did do an attack by fireteams at a Cold war game, but the proportion of ex-servicemen was quite high for that one:)

Cheers
