Hi, for a cheap reference book you could get - Osprey - Men at Arms 103 - Germany's Spanish Volunteers 1941-45.

Somewhere to start at least. I read they were disbanded in the autumn of 1943.

A most interesting and unusual unit. :)

I would suggest getting the basics first, before moving onto the specialist insignia, etc.

You'll need a wool Feldgrau tunic and trousers. I would suggest maybe M41 or M42 model. There are many places to get this, but my personal recommendation is www.reenactment-box.com

You're probably going to need jackboots for this impression - again, many different suppliers. (Ebay can be quite good for cheap ones.) Leather enlisted man's (EM) belt with Heer buckle. Headgear - M35 helmet, painted with Spanish national colours. These would be the essentials. Then you can add breadbag, water bottle, gas mask cannister, Y-straps, Zeltbahn (splinter pattern).

See the Heer kit guide for sources.

You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier

i think that probably the helmet with the colors is going to be the most difficult item to find, and also in a few ww2 pic´s i noticed that foreign volunteers had an arm patch with their country like this one´s:

Look for some helmet decals - you might be able to find some. The basic helmet will come with no markings at all.

You can get arm shields at At the Front. Spanish ones are sold out but it might be worth asking if they're restocking.
