Anyone done a DAK loadout or considering one for summer? (it will be a little hot for feldgrau hopefully!) I am tempted as I can use my current weapon and load carrying kit (plenty of pics out there of leather belts and Y straps in Africa) and just get a tunic and shorts/trousers. Anyone know why all the tropical uniforms I see for sale are very distinctly green and yet some originals appear more khaki or brown?

They did fight in africa.I myself am looking to get a third reich tropical kit.

The reason why the tropical uniforms for sale are brown/green is that, this is the colour they were when they were first issued, after a few months in the hot sun and sand the colour has been bleached out of it, a mark of a veteran was a white cap, In North Africa the DAK colours varied from different shades of browns to greens, and the Luftwaffe uniforms were sandy brown.
I have both Luftwaffe and DAK, I bought a light sand colour uniform for DAK and added a green dye, it is now a faded light green.

I plan to put together a 21st panzer DAK veteran loadout ready for Husky. Of course I won't look like a veteran because the stuff will be new, unless I leave it out in the sun over the summer.

UK Summer 2008 ends on Thursday mate.
I'll take with me when I visit Chicago then. I may get a few odd looks but it will be worth it.

I like many sell them and to be honest they are come from the same place believe me, also the qaulity changes with each batch, what i offer is tht complete package, false ecomony buying bits from all over, can sort you out for the lot and will save you time and money.
