Is there a cheaper alternative to repro German ankle boots, ala the ones sold by Mr Underpants? i.e. something that would look a bit more realistic than my British Army boots?

When I started re-enacting about ten years ago I was told RN deck boots were a very realistic stand in, but you might have to look for em, havnt seen any recently.
