about 1300hrs today i was in the company van,

lovley hot day, windows down , and listening to my mp3 player.

PANZERLIED, (full version) at full whack.

whilst stopped at a junction, at the bit in the song

"to die for germany is an honour most high,"

some guy pokes his head through my passenger window and shouts where did you get the tape??

i thought, "here we go a fung liberal",

so i diplomaticly said "F off ", and drove another 5 yards, and stopped due to traffic

same head comes through the window and says, "thats a war song, i know as im german," (guy in his late 50s)

i said "yes, its great isnt it," then drove off.

why does this alway happen to me!

like on sunday in hilton park services, as i unlock my car in full panzer outfit, a jewish fellow in the bay next to me , gets out, and gives me a funny look, i politley nod my head, then drive off ,

and the time in work with the polish builder seeing my uniiform

lightnings stuck 3 times for me

So the moral is, if your haveing a "GERMAN" moment, keep your eyes and ears open around you :)

has anyone else had an embarasing/awkward "german" moment

I on the other hand, make a point of everytime I use a public computer put panzerlied and horst wesel on via you tube, preferably with pictures.

Besides that is nothing, I was in a famous hardware store the other day talking to the bloke who was helping me transport the stuff, and it wasnt until I got into his van that i realised i was actually describing how I was going to build a WMD.

Yer well i went on a trip to berlin with the collage enough said, when your trying hard not to mention the war or nazis you always end up doing it as my teacher did next to the police car they thought he was doing a hitler salute but he was actually pointing at someone

Sounds a bit like when Major goes to a welder and says "Can you weld this together for me?" and then shows him two halves of a Vickers...

Well, playing panzerlied, wearing black panzer uniforms..you can't expect people not to respond at all can you.

I'm tanking up the Jeep at the local Shell-station whistling "Lili Marlene" and wearing my Tankerjacket.
Some old bloke: "The war's been over for 60 years, you know"

Same petrol station, I walk in to pay for gass, wearing my Russian M43 uniform. Chav behind the counter raises an eyebrow: "oh?"

Getting weird looks from passers-by while singing the Panzerlied at the top of our lungs while driving the jeep on a warm spring day.

Ah yes...it promises to be a good summer.

I use my splinter reversable parka for much the same duty . Those that know, recognise what it is to everyone else it's just a combat jacket.

I wear my M41 (complete with DI and PFC stripes) to work. It's probably the most comfortable jacket I own, and warm when it needs to be.
