I am currently building two German Feld Fu Backpack Radio's. Made from wood and 'airsoft' ready. They will 'look a bit like' the original, but they will not be a 100% copy.
Original dimensions of a Feld Fu radio are:
Outer dimensions with covers: h x w x d = 33 x 12 x 35.7 cm.
With front cover removed the depth is 34.5 cm.
The radio panel measures h x w = 29.3 x 9.5 cm

Wood made from 18mm multiplex:
2x front/back panel, lxb = 333 mm x 294 mm (A)
2x lower/upper panel, lxb = 333 mm x 84 mm (B)
2x side panels lxb = 330 mm x 120 mm (C)
4x beam 32x32mm x 330mm (D)
4x pieces of 'quarter round wood' 18x18mm x 330mm (E)
And some small wood for the feet, antenna mount and side panel-fixation.

Had the wood sew for me.
The building the first case.
Glueing the 'quarter round wood' and started to work on the second case.
Feet attached with the corner profiles (small) bent:
All quarter round wood glued, feet applied, corner profiles (big) attached with screws, and drilled holes for the bolts to attach the leather straps + hooks to them.
This is how the 'ribs' are going to look like:
Antenna mount created and fixed ontop, leather straps hooked up to the case with antenna:
Right side panel, this panel can be opened, the other side is screwed to the case and can't be opened:
Right side panel with a simple 'wood construction' to keep the panel in it's place. Also made an opening for the head and microphone wires. The window is for the on/off switch to-be.

Still todo:
- attach all 'ribs'
- attach the D-ring loops ontop of the case
- attach the clasps ontop
- finish the 'on/off' switch
- create wood-made microphone

Did the bending of the 'ribs' today and started to work on the on/off switch (inside the little window). Also went on with the second radio. Pictures will follow later on.
And more work done.
Put some leather cream on the leather parts. Instead of the pink color, they now a natural leather color. They will darken just through usage.
Also glued the 'ribs' and attached the clasps ontop.
On top, three already threated leatherparts, below still pink 
Ribs.
Still todo:
- Attach the D-rings ontop
- Sanding, apply putty and fix small dents
- Painting

Still on the to-do list is making a repro-look-a-like microphone from wood. As the headphones I am going to use (ww2 or post war, not really clear) UK ones. Both will be connected to a handheld radio, which will be placed inside the radiobox. The radio could be operated when both lids were closed; and so I am not going to make the inside-radio control panel.

Nah, not going to do that.
Maybe going to 'repro-create' the belt on the lower-back. Seen here;
