I know there are various ebayers doing Wehrmacht entrenching tools - please can someone recommend a good quality one? (Soldier of Misfortune are charging

Thats for the folding one, try the no folding, its a lot cheaper

Aha! And am I correct in assuming that the cover is also the belt attachment?

Non folding has two hangers and the bayonet hangs in front of it.
Folding has one hanger and a loop on the back for the bayonet.

There are some bargain originals on ebay.de - but none of the plonkers take Paypal! Last time I got stung by this, my bank wanted to charge me

If anyones near oxford, the local surplus store has quite a few (probably post-war) folding ones. Loads of 'em, all in dark grey-green cases/hangers. Only about
