Probably one for the re-enactors and collectors among you, I have aquired a genuine 1943 dated Auer gas mask in absolute mint condition and i'm wondering what it is worth?
Marked as Size 3
The Exhaust valve? is dated 1943
Lenses are dated 1944
and the filter is dated 27.4.44
There are numerous marking inside the mask:
747 AS
G 168
770008 (serial number?)
The mask is in perfect condition, rubber is not at all perished. The filter has a tiny bit of rust but the paper label is fully intacted.
So the big question is; is it work anything or are they ten a penny?
Any info greatly appreciated
“I wanted to come to the Volga at a specific location at a specific city. By chance it carries the name of Stalin himself. So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."
Adolf Hitler, November 1942
"Comrades, Red Army men, commanders and political workers, men and women guerrillas! It is on your perseverance, staunchness, fighting skill and readiness to discharge your duty to the country that the defeat of the German-fascist army and the liberation of the Soviet land from the Hitlerite invaders depend! We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."
Joseph Stalin, November 1942

I think that style of mask and filter were made for the factory workers, some really large factories even had there own style of helmets.
Shame the mask does not have its container.

it really depends, i've seen one like that on the internet in it's original cardboard box and unused, priced at about £30-£40.
But saying that, some of them go for alot more in an auction house. The pricing on them can be pretty fickle.

Hang on! (x) of you, (y) of me, dont mind playing Airsoft, I make that Pimms O’clock
