Heer Loadout - advice needed

I'm looking to put together a mid-price Axis loadout and need some handy advice. I've detailed my thought process on all of this and would be grateful for any constructive feedback:

1. I have a thing about using "real" unit insignia and want a loadout that minimises this as much as possible, so I'm thinking camo smocks /parkas instead of tunics.

2. Due to a personal issue which I won't bore you with (involving my mum, her pet rabbit and wartime Germany - I'll tell the story to anyone who's interested) I'm trying to steer clear of Waffen SS gear and would prefer a Heer or Luftwaffe look.

3. Stahlhelms are way too heavy to play in so an M40 cap seems the way forward.

4. Full camo gear without a Stahlhelm just doesn't seem "German" enough, so I'd like some feldgrau in there too.

5. Even though it's airsoft and not milsim, I want it all to look right.

Any suggestions for a rank noob?

Well, most camo smocks worn by Heer was worn over the Feldgrau uniform. The Waffen SS used camo from early on and extensively; the Heer did not use it so much. Also, think what is practical for skirmishing - a camo parka might be pretty hot when you're running about all day.

I personally like the Feldgrau uniform - it suits all periods of the war and looks smart. I have a splinter camo helmet cover and a Zeltbahn which can double up as a camo smock in woodland situations.

If you're looking for a Lufty loadout, ask Kermit - he's the expert on that. I must admit, I've always thought the Fallschirm look great.

OK so unless I want to sweat like Fred West's paperboy then parkas are out.

A helmet is quite comfortable for playing in all day, you'd think the weight would be too much , but they were designed ot be worn all the time and are very comfortable as well as looking the part.
My advice would be get a set of M36 Feldgrau, some decent jackboots, a helmt and a belt and take it from there. Shopping around you should be able to muster that for under

i hhave a full oak a tunic and trousers in hbt( not too hot )all from spearhead, which is also a very effective camo for general skirmishing, jackbootsfrom gowen militaria and epic militaria. for a cheap impression a pair of olive trousers 6 quid, ordinary boots(used 20) and gaiters (6 quid)
then the most expensive thing is a smock, helmet and you y-straps. I built mine up over timebuying used and as cheaply as i could off ebay.

My current 'counts as' loadut for heer grenadier.

Post war 50s ddr tunic (a bit too grey but otherwise fine)
BGS pattern bdu trousers with the cargo pockets unpicked.
Ankle boots and gaiters (to be replaced with jack boots at CR)
Post war 1950s ski cap (again a little too grey)
for the evening, tanand water parka to slip on top.

Repro heer belt and post war y-straps.
k98 bayonet and frog.
Mp40

All i need now is some mp40 pouches and thats my minimum 'counts as' kit for CR.

I'll no doubt end up blowing hundreds on pukka kit before then though.
