Could anyone recommend a helmet supplier to me. I have had a look at Ebay, but am concerned about buying one. Many of the people I have spoken to say thay they are not great. Cheers Pat.

You're in luck - well slightly. I think I read that your going for a 9th SS impression? A SS Helmet cover can be your friend, if you unfortunately pick up a not so good helmet.

When I bought my M35 - I got it from Barry Lyndon for less than £40 + P&P. There are loads of suppliers, but maybe other folks who have bought elsewhere can add their info.

Helmets are a right old minefield. Problem is that a lot of suppliers use a *huge* shell, then just dump whatever liners they have to hand into them - which looks kind of strange when a person with a small head is wearing a massive shell - just think "Rick Moranis in Space Balls" and you aint far wrong.

So........

Best shell - Deepeeka, by far. However, the liners are cack.
Best liner, OK shell - Hong Kong Keith
OK liner, OK shell - Barry Lyndon

I really should stop buying so many lids....

Funny you should mention that. I best put that FJ lid up for sale (ordered the wrong bloody size, which is why you shouldnt do your online shopping when drunk  )

Bought a couple of used M35s-some great some terrible but unfortunately not sure where they came from so not much help im afraid

All the ones ive had were massive 59/60 sizes so no idea if they do small sizes.

Why dont you try to find an original shell and make one up yourself?

Being a size 56 is a bonus as smaller sizes are normaly cheaper

Well I have a small head, and getting a lid to fit wasn't easy at all (not for heer anyways) my head is mind 54/55" I ended up with I think its Bulgarian and ground down the rib on the top (yes helmets and ribs you can stop giggling now boys   )

I know that Anthony, Militaria-net, has in stock a variety of helmets from a few sources including the HK ones, and as being a trader he bulk bought he's got a few that are incorrectly sized and smaller than the size noted on the lining. Advantage with that is he goes to both airsoft events, reenactments events and trade fairs, so you could pop along and try a few on to find a good fit ;) . Saves ordering one from the same supplier and finding it doesn't fit and having to either sell it on or return it, as Militaria net is UK based ;)

If you dont have a big head you could think about an original shell. Original shells to fit a 57 or smaller are quite cheap and available. Always going to be better than any repro you care to mention. SoF did have some small size recon shells.
