Hi,

Personally I think making a quality Hungarian loadout doesn't worth for you if you only want to use it for airsofting. Well at least I wouldn't do it if I were you. An awfull lot of fuss (for example as you have already mentioned most of the literature is in Hungarian) for an impression almost nobody will recognize on your side of the Carpathian basin

But if you use a lot of look-a-likes and count-as-s maybe it can still work :happyclap:

sooo...

I bet you already got some reference material still you can have a look at these pictures (the text is of course Hungarian )

http://militiahungarorum.extra.hu/elozetes.html#resz_uj

and here is a short video about the making of a wwII documentary with period music (just to get into the mood 8) ):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gUKkvjM ... r_embedded

Good luck if you don't give up the idea of being the first Hungarian wwii airsofter, the idea only made my day :)

K.u.K. unit he knows.

Sorry, no more K.u.K. after the fall of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. From the end of the Great War the army was called Magyar Királyi Honvédség, which translates to Hungarian Royal Army.

Cheers,

Ta kindly for all that, that You tube link is brilliant.

The other one I had already found, using google translate to work my way through the site at the moment.

Yep, I know about the No K.u.K, but the "Hungarian cut breeches” were a WW1 issue as well, so if we can get a pattern, it would/could help with an early war look.

Yep, we are not going full on.

Currently we are looking at Swedish 6 pocket or Danish civil defence jackets as the collar is right, with modded pocket flaps it should be something we could pull off . Then arranging a meeting of those with some Dylon woollen dye to get the green hue.

Trousers, again Swedish or Danish woollen ones dyed.

The Czech Bandage bag looks like a fair look alike for the haversack.
(specifically looking at this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Genuine-CZECH-Mil ... 518f38f189 )

Add a Helmet from Sgt Heide with a bracket attached (pop riveted on)and then painted a suitable colour.

Maybe a post war sidecap or German M43 look alike modded a little to give a higher crown at the front.

So far, from some online sources we have found, we are looking at change out of £100 for individual including the dye. :good:

At the moment, we are holding off any purchases until after the angels sale unless we see a real “must have” bargain (Just missed out on a Danish civil defence jacket and trousers in my size for under £20). It s just in case we see anything suitable in that sale.

M43 gaiters are just like the British and late war German ones which we have already.

Belt and webbing, we have 1950’s French leather sets that will stand in. replace the pouches at some point with some cheaper brown Nagant ones which have more the look.

Much later, once we have the look sorted, we are going to investigate the weapons.

As to the SMG in the Video
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danuvia_43M_submachine_gun

We are considering the assembly of one or two at some later date.

The MG30 looks a moderately easy weapon to fabricate a look a like, with the curve of the side fed magazine, was thinking of an AK donor for the magwell and mechanicals.
And it looks like a sterling all growed up!

Reports seem good.

The only bad report I have ever seen was that of ammunition supply, as no-one else on the Russian front was using that round and so it was not always easy to get supply.

The mag carried 40 rounds of 9mm Mauser Export which was something of a beast among the European pistol rounds.

Certainly it packs something like 125% of the power of the 9mm parabellum round, so the 200 meters on the sights may not have been entierly optimistic as it seems with most SMGs.

I'd say that with full select fire options (Semi auto/Full auto/safe) etc, it seems almost like a 'proto' Assult Rifle.

Verry nice.

Certainly captures the look I had in mind. Though with a ankletts rather than putties (I don't remember seeing putties, but anklets appear in most period photos I have seen, the look very like the british WW2/german post war ones!)

Currently we have an issue with finding a reliable dye, but if i/we can sort that out, we likely will be able to create a "fuzzy ersatz" set up that will get close enough to that for airsoft. Solving that dye issue means we could possibly turn the woollen swedish 4 pocket paratroop jackets into a passable French mle35 jacket as well. Re-enactors will no doubt snigger, but fine enough for airsoft/film-sim.
