'And above all.............have FUN' Well said Kermit!
I agree. most of us will haver most of what we need. lets build it up over time I agree with stubblehopper that some degree of uniformity would be fine, but I also think that there should be some leeway for individualism after all the real units always had a mixture of stuff too and I do prefer jackboots as did the soldiers of the time, they called the low boots retreating shoes, and jackboots have more style especially as they click on concrete!. This could be enormous fun!
I am still at the stage where i enjoy open days.. though is this a crime against the state.......

OK Kermit, I'll post a list of everyone after I PM them to firm up on this, also had a couple of PM's saying that the link to the Hohenstaufen gallery shots is down so here it is again http://subhost.eu/site.ww2airsoft/gallery.htm
As I've said before a basic loadout of oak A smock, keilhosen trousers, ankle boots and gaiters, helmet and cover. should be our goal, not too expensive and great as an initial building block for a waffen ss impression.
Neill - you only stop enjoying open days when you've been doing them for 10 years.
s'hopper - cheers for the fixed link. Nice pics, I take it that the 'faust on there is one of SOF's chinese ones? Why oh why did they stop selling the first ones they had ![]()

wa hey - 8.5 years to go then! I do have my frustrations with open days
- no-one understand basic tactics, spray and prayers, people who give your position away, I love them though, because i get to take my lad who is 12 and lives for airsofting, and although he doesnt always stay with me, its something we can share, unfortunately he always wants to play allies!
Having said that he is coming to CAEN in may.
sorry i digress.....

Nothing wrong with open days , shooting newbies in the back is always a laugh
, but I find they will not give you the sort of kick playing "proper" games will give you . I've also found as I've gone along that I enjoy the rpg bit of airsoft as much as the actual "shooting " bit .
Getting in character, submitting yourself to military discipline, being good at your craft and realising you can always learn from others, it's all far more interesting IMHO than spanking the monkey over an upgraded gun .
My other observation is that whilst some fieldcraft translates to airsoft, a lot does not, if nothing else just because of the appalling range and accuracy of the weapons. When is does work in a team, is when you know each other well, are disciplined, have a clear chain of command and practice lots. As ex squaddies I don't need to tell you the reason our Army is one of the best is because it is small , highly professional and trains constantly. This is the bit I think this proposed team will struggle with , and would suggest you consider.
Anyway that all said, I'm off for a 48 hr E&E exercise where I'll be chasing ex members of Sports and Social around 700 acres of Welsh mountain. And no I don't expect to use more than one mag all weekend , but feck it'll be good . See ya there Doktor !
crikey that sounds exciting! he said reaching for the old boyscout handbook...

Well, I have to say you guys will look awesome. However, I've spent too much on my jacket and insignia to join you. I may well try and form a Heer equivalent, who knows?

It's no good, I've relented and ordered an Hohenstaufen cuff title.
Your a load of buggers. I'm going to have to be really nice to wifey now which will mean I won't be able to 'forget' Mother's Day or indeed her birthday later in the month. All that expense for a

Feckin superb
, I'll try it !
Just picking up on what you said in your post before last "Sweaty" I think your quite right and some form of training is going to be necessary, I don't know how many here are ex-squadies, but I am, and I used to train infantry soldiers. So, what I'm going to suggest, is a sort of sticking plaster for the very first event, in that those who are interested in the Hohenstaufen turn up a little earlier than planned and we can go through and rehearse basic squad movement, fire and manouvre tactics and very basic "FIBUA" entry procedures, and divide everyone up into entry teams, with designated mg support, team linkmen and bombers, as this is a house to house fighting situation that we're talking about at Pheonix. Also, this kind of fighting is very ammo hungry, for the attacking forces in terms of grenade use and ammo, and this needs to be bourne in mind by the organisers when considering any ammo limits. You're right about infantry tactics not converting to airsoft very well because of the ranges involved, but in an urban environment, ranges are cut down slightly, so we might have a chance at pulling it off in a "FIBUA" situation
Ssh!!

Just to note that the ammo limit has been set and it won't be changed - up to you to make the most of what you have got!

Any one got any pictures of the Hohenstaufen panzer troops??
im all for adding a cuffband and runes to my panzer gear.( so is my brother)
will the team be infantry only?? or will there be a place for dismounted panzer troops??
the only picyures ive found of Hohenstaufen men in my books are all grenadiers
any help will be much appreciated?
if time/money permit, we might work on a recce vechle this summer, depending on whether we can get a trailer big enough, (cos anything we make will NO WAY be road legal

Nearly there on the orbat just waiting for a couple more PM's to confirm who's up for it. Looks like we might have a possible total of twelve grenadiers, although two of those can't make it on the day, one due to work commitments and one due to all Axis places being booked up solid, but they have confirmed for Churchill's revenge. I'll keep you posted! Hopfully, should get this finalised by monday at the latest.
HOHENSTAUFEN FOR THE WIN.
I think the good thing about open days is when somebody sees you sighting at them, shouts that they are "Blue Team dont shoot", moves from beind cover so you can see their armband, get shot by my shotty then scream that they are blue team why did you shoot me. Well it might have had somthing to do with the fact I wasnt blue team. He He ![]()

Just ordered Division Cuff Title, Collar Patches and M40 side cap looking for other kit.
cheers

OK as promissed and based upon everyone's PM's here's the template for the Hohenstaufen orbat, this is subject to change, as is everything in life, and has changed already! The * denotes those who can't make it on the day. Changes -: NeilBlume to Rottenfuehrer, Kermit to Sturmman and Sgt Heide to Sturmann, this is based on a ratio of 1 NCO to 3 grenadiers, if we get some more recruits before CR we'll be looking for another Rottenfuehrer and a Sturmann, 2 x Melder(runners) and a medic
