As far as i remember, HJ and political organisation ones (SA/RAD etc) came in brown.
Yup, though the brown is more what we would consider tan. Quite like the top image. They some times only had one metal ring and one leather loop on the front [HJ esp.].
The couple of originals I have are very 'olive' in colour, like the rucksacks. The DAK style one I have is not sand or tan but an odd dusty green/grey shade with webbing replacing the leather parts.
