i was really dreading sewing pipeing in to my panzer wrap when i found this

AFTER 1943 wraps didnt have pink collar piping, just round the deathsheads

and as for panzer troops wearinging grey, this cleared it up for me.....

The original intention for the AFV uniform was that it only be worn when the crewmen were in the vehicle; at all other times the standard Feldbluse was to be worn. This restriction was ignored frequently, and espececially after the opening of hostilities in 1939. The black AFV uniform was worn for parades and increasingly as a walking out uniform despite official prohibitions. The garment was well liked and thought of as especially handsome; it also brought readily to mind the lightning victories of the early years of the war, for which the panzer troops were given much credit.

so i can SHOW OFF in black

Ha , does this mean people will stop having the same conversation with me at every event ?

Person - hmmm pink piping ? You must be gay or panzers ?
OS - yes mate 27th Panzers
Person - Panzers wearing M36s ? / Wheres the Black uniform ? Where is your tank etc ad naseum .

One day I'm going to go for Engineering piping, and then people will no doubt ask why I'm not carrying an assualt boat.

At last some proof that not everyone in a Panzer regiment lived in a tank or wore the panzer wraps . Especially if they didn't have any tanks left to use.

Panzer troops wearing Grey was generally considered for Assault Gun crews, but I'm sure was as ignored as everyone else .

*Rant over *
