Hi lads, I was just wondering if these http://www.ima-usa.com/product_info.php/products_id/231 would be acceptable for my Heer impression?

Thanks.

Well, they would although they don't have the rings at the back to attach an A frame or hitch up a zelt or other kit. I would have thought repro 'proper' straps would be just as cheap?

That's what I use. The front clips on my BW staps are sprung too which helps to stop your webbing goning for a walk on its own

I hope they are OK as that is what I picke up in Germany the other week. Have a look on e bay for Zeltplan (As per the ss kit list) he has them for sale for £13 I think and he is good and quick seems cheaper than US

I have a pair of Bundeswehr Y straps and they're great - some of the details are a bit off compared to the wartime ones but mine have rings for A frames and everything. They also only cost £5. I'd say spend a little and get a good "salty" set of BW straps or spend a lot and get a quality repro.

They are i believe post war German and are similar to the WW2 Police,Cavalry and Falschy Y straps.

Considering the crap exchange rate at the moment thats expensive.

1st thing to do is bin the spring clips at the front if going for an authentic look

I brought the y straps along with some jack boots and a splinter cap for £30 all in, from my local car boot sale. :) To be honest I will keep my belt order light (bread bag, water bottle, gas mask tin and ammo pouches) so things like the zelt, a-frame etc will be left off. This dosent mean to say that I will not get these items in the future, (along with proper repro y straps) but as I can gather from your posts, my post war y straps should hopefully suffice for now, as I am only just starting out with my Heer loadout.

Thanks for the advice guys. :good:

Really? I find the sprung ones are much better for playing in.

Good price on the kit PFJ :good: . What kind of car boot sales do you get that lot from tho?

There is a Big car boot sale near my house (I live in west essex btw). once I had sifted through all of the dodgy dvds, hooky car radios, etc (think of barter town from mad max 3, lol...) I found a stall with a load of british army gear, and lo and behold there was a box labeled "nazi stuff" which I immediatly snapped up! :D

The post war Y straps certainly are practical - I have a pair that Old 'Un passed on to me which I wear as 'cavalry' straps.
I see now you had bought a bargain and wasn't asking about buying them from the site you linked to! :good:
