Avoid splinter as that was more a Heer thing , blurred edge , Oak or plane should be fine . As Gadge says , kit was issued at different time, people grabbed what they could .

Avoid Dot44 helmet covers though, they were never issued. Any you see in pics were made by unit tailors. Some of the Plane Tree patterns go quite nicely with Dot44 though.

Hi Barcey

You've probably mentioned this elsewhere but why are you sending your Spearhead tunic back?

Dont cover it, give it a chicken wire cover, or bread bag straps.

Also give it an overspray of tmaiya dunkelgelb.

I have some pics on here of mine if you search.

YOu can overdo camo if you're not careful, its look a bit more realistic to have a mi and match approach.

Soldiers got what the qm threw at them or they scavenged, you didnt have the luxury of orderinga matching set :)

Camo paintjobs and chicken wire were very much the exception, not the rule, when it comes to SS Helmets. Helmet covers were seen MUCH more often.

Um.... who?? I don't recall anyone on Cross of Iron having chicken wire on their helmet. They had netting, splinter camo & rubber strap or breadbag straps, but no chicken wire to my recollection.
