There were several different types.
The ones sold by SOF aren't actually for stick grenades - they were designed for rifle grenades.
The difference?
Stick grenade bags are eitther open ended, or zipped. Rifle grenade bags are closed with a flap.

also try the assault pioneer bag.
Just got a 2nd hand pair of splinter grenade bags... here comes the daft question - how do you wear it? Is it as simple as putting the upper strap behind your neck? And that's it?
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
I think the chap in the centre is wearing one, the strap does indeed go behind the neck by the looks of it. Its an old design as the stormtroopers in WW1 used them as well.

Andy,
whats the back of the 'pocket's' like - have they webbing tabs or just connected via the webbing strap for round your neck?
They have no tabs - they are just connected by a webbing strap top and bottom.

Any idea if these grenade sacks were done in Waffen SS camo? And if so, where from?

'Scuze me for straying slightly off the topic, but concerning the potatoe masher itself, I've been contemplating making one.
I have a Dynatech Blank firing Grenade, which I could shroud in a tin, paint grey and stick it to the handle of onr of the ten pound wooden repro grenades. I would still have to pull the pin out of the top and allow enough room for the arm to move and allow detonation, you would have the standard 3 (ish) second delay from the Dynatech.
Option two, the one I might go for, I have access to a blank firing "Impact grenade" these work off a gyro thing and although the pin may be removed they wont go off unless they have a 1 meter impact.
They are £165 each though
Double post sorry, but on the theme of the potato masher re-useable grenade, One of my older airsoft mates has a father who is a retied engineer with a full workshop and on a pension. I'm giving him my dynatech with a view to taking it apart and building a potato masher using a similar mechanism. We're working on the theory that if he can build one that works acceptably firing either .38 blanks or 12 bore, then there would be a market for them. Like I said he's retired and if he can earn a few extra quid then good luck to him. Can anyone point me in the direction of a schematic of the grenade so that I can approach him with a set of plans? Just something with dimentions etc, pointing out to any authorities here it's a blank firing replica grenade we're hoping to make, nothing bad
You might look into making a lobb-able dynatec-type grenade (whatever the shape). I have a pair of dynatechs but rarely use them these days as I just don't get into safe situations - unlike when I used to play urban site when one could roll a grenade into a door or 'post' it through a window. Too damn heavy. They are incredibly robust which is good but there must be lighter solution?
The thing with Dynatechs is that appx £80 a pop you dont want to be lobbing them in a woodland environment where they are likely to get lost. I've sprayed mine dayglo orange and still I'm careful where I lob it. My reconing is a stick grenade is going to be easier to find. I'm also taking weight into consideration because of a safety aspect. Any game that I run is started with a safety brief and in that brief, the underarm throw only rule is always pointed out. This would have to be emphasised with the stick grenades, if they were thrown spinning overarm they would seriously hurt another person, were it to strike them!
