Still to come:
jager patch, afrika title, wound badge and inf assault badge....
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Crumbs, with that lot you only have to turn the right way to the sun and you'll blind the Allies!
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
Don't tell me that you are joining the medal war as well,
man with most tin wins....
First and Only Airsoft!!
Ah well i thought...
what would a 32 year old brandenburger have by '44
Hes going to be at least a stabsgefreitor, he'll have an anti partisan badge, as i've seen brandenburgers with army parachutist badge i decided to have one of those and 'kreta' title makes sense.
Close combat award seemed to make sense too and the IK, well that came with the tunic, be shame to waste it
Ironic thing is its all going to be covered by a splinter smock...
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Oh and for once SOF were surprisingly the cheapest about for awards.
Anti partisan and combat award *both* only
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
My problem is tant distruction awards. If I put one up for each tank I have destroyed I won't have the room. 17.
First and Only Airsoft!!
Seen a pic of a guy who won 21!

halfway down page
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Thats 15 in the pic, thats to many...
Think it will just have to be three for the three russian ones. T55,T55,T62
First and Only Airsoft!!
Does it count if you destroy one of your own by burning it out on start up?
Do you get bonus points for it being the OCS wagon you 'borrowed?'
(not me but a mate called jaggsy who after said incident was known as 'jagspanzer')
My mate Craigs got 17 AFV 'kills' but they dont count as you had to take out the tank using non crewed at wepaons didnt you?
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Don't see why not, my other 14 were Chieftains........
First and Only Airsoft!!
Well the jager patch went on today and after doing a bit of research it looks like i havnt over done it at all.
75 % of the regiment won the iron cross in plans 'white' and 'yellow' alone!
Anyone surviving to 44 45 in the brandenburgers would be heavily decorrate, the only inconsistency would be the rank but i found a way around that.
Stabsgefreitor rank was created for longserving soldiers who were unwilling to be promoted to NCO.
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Looking good mate.
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
When they arrive i'm changing the collar insignia cos the ones that came wiht it are a bit poor.
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Hi Gadge
Had a quick listen to one of the tracks on your band web page earlier - very much liked what I heard - looking forward to listening more carefully later - great image to boot - a little reminiscent, if you don't mind me saying, of Soft Cell mixed up with Lab4 - very
Your insignia - if you're going for a late war Heer impression, it looks right to me - the late war insignia was of a totally different style and quality to the early war stuff - it looks pretty much the same as what I've got sewn on my m43. Any reason why you went for the m36 tunic?
Cheers for the compliment, both references are bands we all like.
Some of the earlier stuff we did is a little bauhaus, my guitars purposely minimal, we originally wanted to use it as a 'sound' rather than an instrument, that only really comes across with the harmonics/noise on 'devotee'
Unfortunately we've done bugger all for a while, our keyboard payer/producer has sort of left as hes in America lot now and cant commit to the band.
Myko and i were going to continue as a two piece but we just lost impetus.
Back the tunic.
Well as i'm airsofting and not re-enacting properly i've gone more for 'iconic' than accurate. The m36 just looks cooler to me and you still see a lot of it issued up to 45 either old stocks being used up, remakes fomr older tunics to conserve material or private tailor jobs.
For me it just looks so much smarter.
I've got ankle boots and gaiters but i'm wearing jackboots for airsofting as again its iconic. I've tried to keep most my kit based on an archive pic of a brandenburg commando soldier on Cos in 44 but i've mixed in bits from other members of the unit.
The great thing about a BB impression is they wore whetever they liked and i can even get away with foreign weapons and kit much more convincingly than any other loadout.
My 'character' for this loadout/impression is 'Stabsgefreiter Gunnar Hauer' (much more german than Gareth Harvey - stabs pip in the post as we speak...)), a career soldier slightly at odds with the system but good enough to get away wiht it like Steiner and obrgftr Porta - refusing promotions for the same sort of reason...
A veteran of the low countries, crete and north africa returning to front line service after a long period of counter partisan work in the balkans.
Clifton matt will be playing my long suffering comrade (a brandenburg gefreiter who served with me in africa)
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
I'm toying with getting myself a *completely* insignia free mid war tunic for field use as it would be very right for the impression.

By that I take it you mean the bloke that has to keep rescuing your heroic bacon, The matz to your schultz.
Yeah thats the sort of thing...

Yeah thats the sort of thing...
So does he have a wooden leg, and do you keep whoring every free minute, hang on dont answer that last qquestion, I dont think I want to know.
What I noticed with my insignia at Arnhem was being left handed the butt plates of my weapons where bashing my decorations, the pin on the iron cross fell off & my infantry assault badge got bent next time I venture to the dark side I will just have a EK2 ribbon on me I thinks, hence me swapping to a shirt & camo smock for the afternoon.
