All armies commit atrocities, few did it as systematically (and as a matter of state policy) as Nazi Germany and its political troops the SS.
Without wishing to read the argument over 15 + pages there, he has a point.
Here however is not the place to discuss said war crimes.

Cheers for the link there mate,i like the SS uniforms/camo.
If its passed 9 there is a 95% chance im pissed.
Interesting link Barcey -
Lots of interesting photos - would take quite a bit of time to wade through them all, filtering out all the **** on the way -
Yup i cant believe some of the incredibly il informed comments you get on there.
i.e. 'the waffen ss were the only troops to use camouflage clothes in wwii'
Other then allied airborne, soviet scouts, the wehrmacht, the Italian army, the us marines, the 2nd us armoured div, the Luftwaffe to name a few off the top of my head then?
I remember they had to disable being allowed ot put comments on the pics after there were so many stupid moronic and vitriolic debates.
One yank chap called woodlander just coudlnt accept that anything in the world might be better than the us version even when it was pointed out to him statistically, with field evidence and genuine weapons system user anecdotes
As with all sources great in concert with others. trust no single source

All that wonderful camo and not one helmet cover in pea dot.
Sorry, the camo nazi side of me popped up there.
A fine photo thread which is beset with the same old 'waffen SS so must be nazi fanatics' twaddle.

Nice mix of type 1 and type 2 smocks too. Some even worn with dot trousers. This is often frowned on by re-enactors. The theory being if issued the dot suit thats what you would wear.....but I'd argue if you have the smock it's great for an extra layer for warmth and weather proofing. They do shed water quite well, not water proof but resistant.
Any one spot zelts being worn or tunics in camo fabric?

Zelt is a great bit of kit for Camo & Concealment - as it breaks up the outline of the body somewhat.
Funny that a lot of people dont seem to recognise that the Zelt was the *only* camo available to a lot of troops in the Heer....
When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........

I knew that , I must have read the same book
I'd go as far as to say the only camo available to 'MOST' heer troops. Camo is way over done for heer.
The zeltbahn is one of my favorite bits of kit.
It is rarely seen worn as a poncho by SS troops though, they had their smocks as camo and they do shed some water. I was after shots of SS wearing zelts as poncho or camo rare in either case.
