Anyone bought any of these online ? I've seen them available at eipc and they look erm like my eldests school socks rather than the thick wool I want (that and I'm not overly confident ordering from there). I also know suesue gets them in occasionally (not atm though) but I've no idea how good they are :?

Recommendations or sites with availability would be cool am all googled and ebayed out

Suesue, Helga. I've got a few pairs from there, and they're not too thick. :)

I want them thick  sorry didn't explain myself well enough I don't think  I don't want them to look like modern school boy grey socks with a white stripe on them, they need to look thick. Think I may give up on this and just get some hiking socks be far easier (can use plain its just keeping them right out of che's way so he doesn't stretch them) pics I've seen of actual socks (as in original piccies) are relatively thick even though they're turned over, as apposed to the pics of the socks available on ebay, which look like erm school boy socks  which I don't want.

Waffle waffle makes no more sense than before

Well, they're thicker than school socks, Helga. I know SoF do some for about £25, which is ridiculous. I'd recommend Suesue's - if they're not thick enough, wear some school socks underneath.

Well thats three for Mr Underpants (I asked elsewhere as Dave didn't feed the electric meter  ), I probs could have picked some up at Malvern today had I gone. But I didn't and have spent the day adjust a fliegerbluse 8) just need to put the pockets on and make a belt and thats sorted.

Kinda of low priority on socks  but I do need some

Hi Helga

Mine are from RU too - thinking of getting some more from Suesue mind you, they're cheaper, but no idea how thick. The RU ones are fine. I take it you're wanting to wear them without gaiters? :D

As i found out at the D-Day bash, short boots and rolled down socks = comfort. FAR better than wearing gaiters - you can certainly see why the troops did it in the field, even if it was against normal rules.
