Hey Guys,

In light of a conversation I had with the Brass earlier, the Comrades in Arms Supreme Headquarters of the Allied Expeditionary Force (CiASHAEF) have passed down orders to get our men into a coherant fighting force. The enemy is strong, and he is organised, and we..... well..... we're not really all that organised are we?

I would like to therefor propose that we form a WWII US Group. At first I would suggest maybe a General US Army Group, where we can all wear our stuff we have at the moment... but with the idea of creating sub groups such as US Generic Infantry division, and US Generic Airborne division for all you Skytrain boys and girls.

I believe the Brits may be doing something similar under the Command of Yith.

The idea of the groups is primerily to get to know who you're fighting with, how they fight and how to help eachother achieve our goals... and thus increasing your enjoyment of the events. You know how in most glorific war films they always talk about the bond that soliders get whilst fighting together, well this is what I am thinking of.

Ideally and I mean 'ideally' in the slantiest text possible, that when we come to the D-Day event (and future events thereof), when the Allies are going to be split by the chaps running up the beach, and the guys jumping in behind the lines, we know exactly what we're doing, being organised into squads with a set purpose. We can discuss tactics and support eachother, fire and manouver, and brute force it.

Besides wanting to win, its the taking part that counts, (or so my mum used to say anyway) most of all, looking the mucking futs' preverbials whilst doing it and enjoying yourself. Have a look at the photos from Arnhem, have a look at the rows of Denisons and Maroon Berets, thats what I'm thinking of, but with the Greens, Browns and Tans of the Yank kit.

1 last point, it will be an opportunity to get to know people more too, rather them just being a name on the forum and a uniform that you will fight alongside, I personally would be looking to get to know you all, it improves Morale more than anything I think. Plus it will give an opportunity to discuss kit (relative to the unit), where to get it from an which way you wear it etc.

So if you're game for it, we start at the training day a week on Sunday, where we have the expertise of Stubblehopper and all the chaps who are ex forces to help us along with any tactics etc.

Let me know what you think and whether you would be interested.

It's time to turn the tide of the war.

Sounds good, although I would just like to suggest that you/we perhaps shy away from fixed units and form a more malleable force that can be redeployed into units after regens without having to wait for fixed units to reform.

I speak from experience!

I mean fixed units for the sake of having a communal looking kit, rather than having airborne mixing in with rangers on the beach assault etc

I think this is a great idea Webby, I'm liking the thinking. Part of the reason I joined this group in particular, was to get to know people in airsoft who I could go to events with and see the same faces all the time. While you can do that in open days, it's nice to be on the same page.

However, I think this is a dastardly plot to get all US infantry badged up as your beloved 1st ID! ;) My unit, 116th IR, 29th ID was actually attached to 1ID for D-Day anyway... :)

Back on to a serious note, while I probably won't make the TD, or the 40's weekend hosted by Gunman (I'm trying!), I'm looking forward to meeting my new comrades, and finding out my squad and role, be it medic, 2nd gunner or rifleman. Bring it on!

Ive thought about that chap, I changed 1st ID to US Generic Infantry Division on what I had written, therefore you can be anything from 1st ID, 2nd, 3rd 29th, rangers etc etc

Also means the airborne chaps can be 1-0-worst or the all americas etc.

Hidden agendas, eh?

Perhaps there will be enough people there to have 'sectors' of beach, with their own objectives? It would be nice to train for that, make plans, models. Or maybe I'm just in cloud cuckoo land?!

I think the squad role is a great idea, perhaps have a cycle where every1 can experience the roles and see which suits them, I would be Auto Rifleman or Submachine gunner /Assualt basically. Ive tried my hand at snipering and support gunner, but I like to get my teeth stuck in :)

great idea mate count me in for sure. Would be good to pratice both inf and airborne stuff for future games as with past games there are times when there wont be inf/airborne around for that game. Plus im finding it difficult to make the training days etc as they are so far north for me.

My prety rangers badge arrived today :) and i have a nice 28th inf badge. And the 82nd badged jumpsuits worn in nicely from 3 open days now heh

I'm well up for forming a group as well, however I can't make the next training day, but will be looking to attend others.

Whenever you can make it along to any training day or event would be as good a start as any. All I'm looking for at the moment is to set the ball rolling, once it gets going people should be able to meld with it quite easily.

You won't be disadvantaged from missing this coming training session, really its just a good opportunity to sit around a camp fire getting to know people, even some of the Germans :) We can pass on any information we learn from the chaps running the event, that way nobody gets left out if they cant make it for any reason.

Count us in, we were talking to Rhys about getting a squad together for D-Day anyway.

We'll be at the training day and probably Operations too.

We don't do insignia so can fit into any infantry division you want really, we'll just be generic US infantry.

First step would seem to be getting a list of names and dividing up into US infantry, US airborne and Brit Airborne (in the absence of Yith) and then nominating some squad leaders.

I nominate Webby and Rhys!

Something to have a chinwag about at the training day, sounds cool.... Both Rhys and I have Infantry and Airborne gear, so we could switch and change.

Not looking to take any sort of command over the side, I think HS has that pretty wrapped up at the events, I think we should be the members responsible of getting the teams together, and making sure that they are all organised and know what they're doing.
