Hello All

with the upcoming game it seems more appropriate to play a more special forces role than rank and file. However there seems to be a very limited number of US special forces units involved in ww2 and what ones there were tended to be disbanded fairly rapidly.

From the info I've found the 1st special service force aka devils brigade seemed to be the longest standing but didnt make it into germany, so not quite appropriate for this scenario.

So I was wondering can someone else recommend another or were people like the 82nd/101st/rangers considered special forces in a way because of their extra training etc.

Advice much appreciated as always

Rhys

Why not play an OSS operative, perectly feasible to be given airborne kit for an overt mission, especially if they had to drop in.

Yeah cool game that was.

I imagine they wouldn't wear 'im a spy' patches so would go unbadged or wearing the uniform of another unit as a cover, but thats just a guess.

Patch
The patch was designed by General William J. Donovan, founder of the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), as the insignia for OSS. In a memorandum dated June 16, 1943, he stated:

"Black is associated with activities which may be performed under cover of darkness. The gold is used for strong contrast and visibility of the insignia. The spear head is taken from the design of force of attack and defense of the nation

US Rangers were Special Forces, highly trained by the British Commando's.

The 2nd & 5th Ranger Battalions were personally trained by the British Commando School's Cadre at Achnacarry Castle.
