Thanks,
It's been a long struggle to get the visas, but well worth it in the end, One thing even though they only have single shoot down there ,so there's no moaning about mid or hi caps! I hope to make some new friends and I will miss my old one's Otto and Rich. Well if you ever find yourself in NZ drop in for a beer or two!

Congrats! for Canterbury contacts, you need to speak with Mr Cake. Are you moving to the Christchurch/Banks Peninsula area?
There's not much of a scene here for WW2 just yet, but we had our first event a few months ago with about 30 players mostly from Auckland and Waikato. As we speak a couple of us are trying to get a second event going, this time with a view to getting players from Wellington and Canterbury involved, as there are quite a few keen airsofters with WW2 kit down that way who missed out on the first one.

Thanks for the welcome down their, Myself and the family will be on my way at easter if all goe's well, having trouble finding plane tickets that don't require a mortage at the moment. Over xmas I will be changing all my guns over to single shot (what a waste) inc a zib MG42 I am building. I have spoken to Canterbury police back in June when I was last there and they have been very helpful in regarding my airsoft guns but not so with the deact's. So I have had to sell most, but will be keeping a K98 sniper and a few others. I will have to get a FAC + endorsements (already agreed in principle with the police) for one or two and build a bunker to store them??????
The family are looking to settle in Lincoln/Tai Tapu, I have been looking at a 4ha plot with trees so can play in the woods.
Do you guys play mostly woodland or do you have a CQB area ?
I will be bringing a lot of kit with me FJ, SS, Heer and US Ranger and Brit SAS will I fit in some where with that little lot?
Looking forwrd to your replys
Rob

Yeah, it's annoying about the full auto laws, but we've only to look across the Tasman to feel 'grateful' that we aren't completely deprived, and some of the guys from ASNZ had to fight real hard even to get that concession. As for firearms storage, it's pretty rigorous, but for good reasons. Unlike Australia, illegal firearms in NZ mostly come from thefts rather than being smuggled in (though it does happen), and several recent arms offences have turned up stolen weapons which were fired at police and the public.
On a lighter note, you'll have noticed that the terrain here is greatly varied, so there are sites around the country with all kinds of options. There's at least one CQB venue in each of the major centres (ie Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch) as well as a few more dotted around the place. Woodland and open fields are the most common.
Here's a map of the venue for the WW2 event we did a few months ago

well once a month my club plays on a cqb field and its got a beautiful stalingrad feel too it  hope that will keep you happy!
we're also in line to get cqb tuesdays underway i think at the same place!
every saturday we play in a woodland area tho we switch it up a bit with another field so we dont get bored of the same terrain

it is indeed a bummer about the gun laws mate, but if you semi those hush puppies (esp mg42) ther shouldnt be any problem, and then well hook you up with one of our techies and put a hairlight trigger in it so u basically wont tell the differance :P appart from the fact its legal ofcorse

as for you weapons if you wish to send them over prior to you coming over youre more than welcome to post them to my addy and ill look after them till you get here (i promise i wont touch them) :good:

Thanks Ash and Mr Cake. I was explained all the reasons for the major gun control in NZ. Your law has no defenision of deactivated so all guns are classed as live? I can understand and respect that. Dick from Chch fire arms dept explained that I would be able to bring my real MG42, Sten, SLR (which is a NZ model) but would all require a collectors and MSSA endorsment, and be subject to all manor of restrictions, bottom line was I could only take them out of storage to clean them when I was on my own and then locked in my house. I have sold the lot so this will now not be an issue for me or the police.
I was looking at these inline gizmos that fit between the motor and gun trigger switch that are programmed to fire only single or 3 round burst, they are not cheap!
Will customs or the police want to fire/test all the guns as I do have a lot, or will they pick them at random?
I have arranged for all the guns inc the deact's to go in the container with all the furniture/household items etc so thanks for the offer. If the timeing goes to plan the container should arrive 8 weeks after we have got there, I will then have the ness FAC and paperwork. I couldn't get a FAC in june when I was last there as I needed a address! It take a lot of planing and I and the family are looking forward to the move and starting a new life.
Ash, Mr Cake I will be pm in you soon for further private info. :good:
