Can i make a suggestion,if a seller does not want to offer to ship overseas then they must state in the auction.I have been keen on quite a few guns on here only to be told later they cant be bothered sending overseas. Now i know that this is there right, but please say so if this is the case .I also know that 99% of people on here are from Britian but there are an increasing number of members from overseas joining so i guess it needs to be stated clearly in furture.
Just my two cents worth.

Can't be bothered sending overseas? That doesn't sound right. I find it extraordinary that people are willing to ship overseas at all, given the potential hassle with foreign postal/courier services, not to mention the cost and the remoteness of the buyer should anything go tits up. And that's not accounting for uncertainty on what can be sent where.

Given this is a UK forum with kit largely being sold within the UK I'd say that those sellers who are happy to export state so in the sales pitch. That way round overseas buyers know which sellers to approach. Much simpler.

Apart from the guns that are made in the UK where do you think the other guns come from.People send guns overseas all the time.If the countrys got restrictions then its up to the buyer not the seller to sort this out."Cant be bothered" was the excuse i was told on occassion .As i stated i understand that this is a UK based site, all i was saying is that if you are selling something clearly state if overseas shipping is not an option,it will save time

There appears to be a sense of humour failure looming .

Your probably not aware that "gun" sales in the UK are heavily regulated by a piece of crappy legislation called the Violent Crimes reduction Act (VCR) which made it illegal to sell anything that looks like a gun including airsoft weapons . The only exemption to this is if you sell them to a registered airsofter or registered re-enactor . Technically overseas sales don't count, but confusion over this legislation is probably what makes people less keen . Everyone selling a gun on here runs the risk of prosecution if they sell a gun to someone under 18 or not on "the list", hence a lot will only sell to people they know can prove they are under one of the two exemptions.

I know this is frustrating for overseas forum members, but those of us who can remember the good old days of strong GBP and cheap imports from China direct are far more pissed off about it.

Working on the assumption that someone prepared to export a airsoft weapon is doing you a favour rather than should be expected will probs be a better way of looking at it .

I suppose I could call myself overseas  (Isle of man)
I think i said on another thread that we are not covered by the VCRA and our club doesnt need to be UKARA registered, most places we buy RIF's from now know this and we get them through no problem, I think I would probably have a problem if I purchased a RIF from some one on the forum, not really sure how I would go about this :?

as for other overseas sellers, couldn't the moderators/webmaster make it compulsory to fill in your location to display it at all times?

I always use paypal if possible as well so if anything goes wrong on a purchase Im covered :good:

Paypal should take care of the payment issue, re kit , that shouldn't be much more than an expensive trip to the Post Office. TBH it wouldn't put me off . Perhaps an appeal to the sellers better nature !

Best of luck guys , it's good to have you on the forum even if buying stuff from us it a pain in the arse . Praps start a thread telling us about WW2 airsoft in NZ ? We'd be interested to hear and it might encourage people being a lil more willing if they feel they know you better !

There's also the whole semi-locking issue with sending AEGs to NZ.

OK, I have set up a template for sales items. If sellers use this then by default they have to specify whether they are willing to sell overseas or not. Hopefully this addresses your complaint bugman and is helpful to potential buyers who won't have to ask for vital information omitted from the sales post.

This is a really good idea. What section of the forum would be better suited for this purpose?

Perhaps filling out the profile to include your location would help? Then there is no shock or confusion over where you are.
