Hi everyone
Im just putting this post up for anyone who is interested.
In Portsmouth there is a military dealer who has a shop that is open to the public & a website under the name of Sabresales.co.uk
Thay sale everything from ww1 to present day, from a button to almost anything.
If you after anything thats army, air force or navy thay could have it & it could be British,American or German.
You can phone them to see if thay have an item that your looking for to save you a wasted trip.
I have seen what thay have on stock in their warehouse (shop) &you could spend a good day looking around at everything, in one room hung up on hangers that are on rail after rail are complete uniforms from all military services & from the main countrys that most players & re-enacters are looking for.
The only problem is that if you are interested in this post you need to act fast as this dealer is closing down at the end of March so everything that you see will be for sale.
Personall I think it woulden't be a waste of time just going to see what thay have I think you would bound to pick something up that you might want.
I would stress that not everything you see is original & thay want con you into thinking it is & there is so much to look at that it would take me a week to make a list for you to see.
I hope this post is of interest to some of you & that someone finds something that thay wanted that thay coulden't find anywhere else.
Best of luke, cheers
Peter (Jerry a.trick ). :good:

Yes it's a great place, whenever we organised games at UCAP there was usually an large contingent who went on an excursion to Sabre.

Great stuff, thanks for the info. It's a pity to lose a highstreet retailer of this kind of gear so close to home but the bargains will help me finish off my kit list. :good:

I've fired a bullet on every continent. Nearly hit someone, too.

Yes, told me the same thing, as well as sending me stuff of which only one item out the three was as described.

Probably better to visit as they are winding down now than order by phone.

Cheers

Good luck calling them to find out if they have any of what you want left in stock. Nic just basically says "I don't know what I have you should just come over and peruse my shop"... That's all well and good but its a long way to go to find out they have bugger all left when you get there.

Yesterday I went to sabresales in portsmouth as thay are closeing down at the end of march to see what I could find.

As i'm a novice I don,t know what i'm looking at but sabrasales are now saleing every thing including the hire costumes if anyone was interested there was loads of British kit & German kit. as in uniforms but not much yanky stuff as some big firm has had most of it. There was also loads of British webbing.

I'm tempted to wonder down this weekend.
My Brit stuff is at the "good enough"stage now that I'm confident I have the basics for a Tommy be it hot (demnims) cold (wool) or wet (jerkin).
My basic US kit is also good enough (though I do usually mix in French kit with that)
Considering German at some point, but i'm actively hunting French motorised troopers kit (i'm about half way there with that).

To the tune of "Mademoiselle from Armentières"

Napoleons army ran away, As you do
The guard stood firm for Frances Pride, As you do
They said the guard will stand and die
But we heard what their Colonel cried
It wasn't pretty I tell you.

Resistance is fertile
