I'm looking into having a friend of mine make up some rigid armature latex covered edged weapons (rubber knives to you, son) made from molds of the original items. The idea is that they would pass muster in an impression but not accidentally cut your knackers off in a skirmish. We're thinking bayonets for Garands, Lee Enfields and K98s as well as Fairbairn Sykes knives. It's all non-profit for members but an idea of demand would be useful. Pleas post any suggestions or indications of interest.

I'd like a rigid rubber K98 bayonet - the ones from the US seem a bit floppy.

A garand Bayonet would go down like a treat. Not so worried about the fighting knife as thats just for looks. So my repro will be fine

Another bayonet of the K98 variety for me. How about one of those Russian throwing spades that Kermit was talking about at the weekend? I'm sure it'd be usable under 500fps as a single throw weapon.

I'd like a Russian NR-40 combat knife if you'd consider doing that. A Mosin Nagant bayonet would be nice too if thats at all possible.

I'd be interested in a F-S commando knive, as long as it was still nice and slim, the ones i've seen are getting on for 10mm thick and just look like dildos.

OK

We've had a long chat about this and have decided to knock up a prototype K98 bayonet which I will bring along to Husky. The good news is that my friend a professional prop and model maker anything he does will be the mutt's nuts. The bad news is that he thinks that with the cost of materials and the time spent on finishing could put the price at about £70 per item, which may be a bit rich for most people, especially as it wouldn't include scabbard or frog.

Thats a bit steap really considering fieldwerks do them for about $35 with the scabbard, an extra $30.

At that sort of price you may be better off concentrating on the ones that aren't available elsewhere, such as the FS knife or spike bayonets.

That's not development, that's materials and labour, which is fair enough, but it's still a bit out of my range for an item that will get little, if any use.

Agree that this is too much for most people. I'll still bring one along anyway.
