Not just the best pic of this year, but surely the best pic for EVERY year

I'm hoping this was a sincere post as I think there's been enough Dog Co. bashing for EVERY year. However now you come to mention it...yes I do like that pic very much.

Hi Doug, the Kettenkrad belonged to some bloke with long grey hair, in no way interested in reenacting. He turned up to the event with his wife on the back and asked if he could park it on our display. Who were we to say no?

Some good pics but whats the deal with holding a Thompson by the magazine?
I'd try to train myself out of that habit if I were you.
You cant shoot the real steel like that, at least not for very long, and it spoils the look of otherwise cracking shots.

Looks to me like he was just putting the mag in to shoot, you can fire a real M1A1 Thompson like that but wouldn't suggest it on auto. But no problem( we are not real WW2 soldiers!;-) )

The reason why people hold it like that is because urgonomically its a more comfortable position for your hands to be in, your hands are drawn to hold it in that way. It can be ever so slightly uncomfortable to stretch your arm to the foregrip. I've also trained myself out of holding it in that manner.

Not for more than a couple of rounds after which you'd need asbestos gloves.
Plus it puts fingers very close to the ejection port, not a place for dainty pinkies.
There must have been a lot of mag swapping when the cameras were out?
Imp1864s picture shows one guy, your two shots show it with BAR and Thompson and in the jeep pic almost every one with a Thompson is holding the mag?
Is it like a re-enactorism? Something they do that isnt right but they cant bring themselves to change?
It certainly isnt how you would be taught to shoot the Thompson.
I see the same thing with modern airsofting, I just feel it's a lazy way to hold a weapon with no recoil.
Does this make it an airsofterism?

Like I said, we are not real soldiers! Ha ha ha
as for my BAR, you try holding it to your shoulder to aim and shoot at a sniper! It's almost 6 kg!! So I shoot however I can to hit my target, it's not about being lazy or incorrect,,, we don't do it when re-enacting but this is just a game for fun. This thread is about posting up your end of year pics, maybe you should start another thread fo this?

Yes, perhaps a Mod could split the thread.
It would keep this one tidy and the new thread would serve as an example of how not to look like a WW2 soldier whilst wearing WW2 soldier clothes?
We could include the 'Belfast carry', that always looks crap with WW2 kit. Great with dpm and an SLR though.

Out of the 2 in imp1864's picture, the one with his hand on the mag is the LEAST LIKELY to get his fingers in the ejection port.

Imp1864s picture shows one guy, your two shots show it with BAR and Thompson and in the jeep pic almost every one with a Thompson is holding the mag?

WRT carrying: As said earlier, it's a lot easier to hold/carry a Thompson like that.

It certainly isnt how you would be taught to shoot the Thompson.

Maybe not, but in the field, all sorts of "non-trained" behaviours develop. e.g. I very much doubt you drive your car EXACTLY the way you were taught.

Why don't you start the new thread for all your comments? You are starting to wind people up, me for one, I don't give a flying fech about you and your comments as long as I get to dress up as a sdier and playgames , like I said, this is the wrong thread, where's your pics? :ghey:
