For a lot of guys full face masks ruin their wwii look and we resort to shooting gogles but some players (rightly) have concerns for extra safety and prefer full face masks.

could *this* be the answer

If one were to spray them flesh coloured... not my thing but a damn sight better than modern full face masks imo

views?

and dont just say 'erggh they're rubbish' i mean views with some debate :)

Good find Gadge! I always feel slightly unsafe wearing just shooting glasses but find a full face mask very uncomfortable and difficult to wear with a helmet (like at the Project Wotan game) but a necessary evil if you want to protect the face.

I'm in a job where I'd like to avoid awkward questions about big welts on my face. These could bridge the gap between glasses alone and a full face mask, particularly, as you say, if painted a flesh colour and suitably "dirtied up". Many of us are/were keen modelmakers/figurepainters, so getting a good finish wouldn't be hard.

If the mask was too cumbersome, it could always be cut down a bit, so it protects just, say the nose and mouth for example. I'd buy one just out of curiosity.

When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!

Interesting, certainly. I don't like wearing full face masks from the "look" point of view, and also because they feel so claustrophobic after a while.

I shall be wearing my new mesh goggles this w/e - no more steaming up for me. 8)

I was thinking the same, with a bit of modelling skill and some fake 'grime' they would probably look ok at distance or in dark cqb tunnels

Seems an interesting idea - however, I would have thought that you will be drenched behind that mask. Not only with sweat but skin moisture evaporation/condensation plus gallons of moisture from the mouth. It doesn't take too much exercise to start breathing through the mouth! Whenever I wear a helmet I end up with water condensate dripping down after a while so I dread to think what a plastic mask would be like. I'd be willing to bet it's discarded after an hour's play.

Looks very spooky though, bit like one of the Doctor Who episodes when the mannequins came to life!

Anyone else think they look kinda creepy? I do think masks ruin the look and find them uncomfortable so will never wear one through choice but for those that do this seems like a decent option.
It might be fun customising them for a certain look though; handlebar moustache anyone? Alot easier than growing one.

Could it make this pre-mentioned path more viable?

Never been a fan of full face masks, and this doesn't appeal either. Nowt to do with "the look", its just that i don't like having my face covered.

Mind you, with all the other war wounds exhibited by my colleagues on a Monday morning at work, a few welts on the face is tame compared to what others turn up with (plaster casts and stitches being the two most common  )

Hmm... if people must cover their faces I suppose it is better than a sansei mask...

But, if a few people use them then we're back to the faceless masses and it'll be impossible to identify people.

Personally I think glasses or mesh mask are better...

I agree with Rich - they look much better than the 'Shredder' maks which prevail, but I'm more of a specs only type of guy. Full mesh mask sounds good, never seen one of those before.

I was thinking for those that really feel the need for fullface, i know most of us are happy with shooting glasses but for me nothing spoils a great loadout more than a full face paintball mask.

I'd much prefer to see this alternative in the field.

I'm with Kermit, personally it's not about the look I just don't like having my face covered as I find it claustrophobic. As to full face masks on others I think it does detract from the overall feel of the game but it's up to individuals what level of protection they feel confortable with.

As CW says they do look like the mannequins in Doctor Who, they could be good in a Si-Fi game with an 'Alien' team wearing them.

Why do I have visions of people running around in fencing masks!?

Full face masks are horrible. Especially if you sweat a lot from the head like I do.

Plus they really obstruct your voice so it's harder to communicate.

Just wear glasses and keep your mouth closed to prevent tooth damage. A little welt on the face is as easy to explain at work as a bit cut on the eye as a result of a rugby match.

No i *totally* agree but some players insist on full face.

My point was that if folk are going to surely this is better than say this:

There are many different neck scarves that could be pulled over the mouth that would be in keeping. Also most full face masks can be adapted to look gas mask..ish. Bit of glue and tube n bobs your uncle. Painted masks with faces made me think Samuri staight away and cheshire grins :slap:

We have used those disposable face masks sprayers use and there great. You can paint them black or green and they cover the nose and mouth. Also their as cheap as chips and only £2 for a pack of 5. Most hardware stores do them!
