How do you deal with people offended by reenacting Germans?

Just come back from Arnhem having had a great time, took the girlfriend to the pub, she told me that a friend had asked where I was that weekend had told him that I had been WW2 reenacting as a German, apperently he was quite outraged. Tonight in the pub he completly blanked me. Now this chap is not a close friend, hopefully they know me well enough to know that I'm no Nazi. Now Im sure a lot of you more expereinced guys have encounted something similar, what your method of dealing with this lack of understanding? To be honest I felt like decking him....probably not the best way

Personally I'm shocked to see swastikas openly on sale at militaria fairs. Didn't our ancestors give their lives to rid Britain of them?

No, they gave their lives to get rid of the those who wore them.
A piece of fabric or a metal trinket held no twisted ideologies, it was the men that created them and believed in the use of such symbols. As long as we remember that its people themselves who create hatred, then hopefully such people will never get the change to have bearing on our lives ever again.
