Oo-er missus!

When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
you were saying about the smut and inuendo neil.......................
Innuendo? In your endo.

would that be a quote from " the todd" steve??
It certainly would.

i thought so.love that show.
I thought it was Italian for suppository ?
well I'm just human......one hates labels although being human its in our inclination to tribalise ourselves...
I've always liked the idea fo reenacting but i dont like the. "Im right your wrong atitude" that comes with it. I recently attended the bushey 1940's weekend with Dog Company and a way to promote ww2 airsoft.
We had an amazing response from the public, as we engaged with them about the weapons, the games, and the scene. Even let them touch, hold and fire the AEG's (controlled environment).
We had a cold reponse from the reenactors. Very few came and spoke to us. Which i found arrogant.
One reenactor commented on the fact that i was wearing red socks, while i was getting ready. Which were not Regulation issue. You cant even see them once my jump boots are on.
Im an Airsofter with Geardo intentions.
In true dog company sprite. "Im not here to look good, im just here to kill germans".
Well, there is the thing. People are very mixed up. You say "Im an Airsofter with Geardo intentions."
Yet your web site says that you are reenactors & airsofters "to make sure that the efforts of our grandparents during those dark days of the war are remembered"
Little wonder you got short shrift from reenactors at the show really.
However, once you get over the fact that some reenactors are obsessed by 'correct' kit (same goes for any hobby - try golfing!) and who have no idea what things were really like back then AND you are comfortable with how YOU do things (I'd like to think in WW2 I'd be wearing red socks under my jump boots, but that's just me) then it's possible to put this perceived reenactor/airsofter divide thing firmly into the bin where it belongs.

Cool stuff. I've re-enacted there its a nice location.

I assume this was with the organisers permission? I can see some re-enactors not liking that... but not all of them by any means!

Did you go and chat to any of them? Did you stay for the socials in the evening? We certainly had no such problem when PBI displayed at Crich. We made good friends with a group we'd never met before and had a lot of fun socialising...

That was most likely a joke. I've had exactly the same thing said to me when I was pretending to be a UNIT officer. Don't let it rile you.
However the best thing to do is engage the person who made the comment and ask politely what colour the socks should be and where to get some...
Show willing to improve your impression and they will be impressed. (BTW, personally in 3 years of re-enacting my socks are usually the wrong colour and my underwear is nearly always from Next. I've also seen excellent re-enactors with old T-shirts hidden under denisons and various socks, etc...)
at crich, we got free use of 2 airborne reccy jeeps, simple because we looked and acted that good WE made them look better...... i shit you not.

3 actually...
Plus we did have a trip in a 4th as well.
Yeah we socialised with the brit guys. Some of which are part of the 47 Commando airsoft group. No axis came to chat. Went to the evenings Dinner/Dance. Had a great time.
Yeah it was all done with the organisers permissions. They've invited us back next year to do bigger and better things.
There you go then - bugger this 'I'm just an airsofter' lark - you ARE a reenactor.

Well if I remember rightly the axis stuff at Bushey was miles away from the allied stuff.. At least it was when we were there.
However we did have a Axis visitor who came bearing german sausage and cheese. I gave him some haggis in return. It was because of the Belgian beer I'd let him sample the night before at the dance.
Note I was there with TFSS not as a an "airsofter" and we still didn't get much chatting to the axis lads...
I went to an event in my Brit gear (not even totaly correct as I had taken my wools off because of the extreme heat and put one some Brit OD trs) and the South Staffs reinactors still asked why I wasnt taking part in the battle with them. ![]()
I went to an event at Foxfield Railway a few years ago. The kit levels there were pretty poor actually with quite a few very large guys who were FAR too old representing Brit Paras.
Was there with Mr Flibble so we had a good laugh. I've got a DVD of the battle somewhere, I think I showed it at the Wotan cinema when we were last at UCAP.
Not my cup of tea though. I'd rather be out in the field than parading in front of MOPs.

didnt mind the interaction with the public, but gadge and i both drew the line at the parade. being shouted at by a big fat bastard for messing up drill when he couldnt even keep the time wasnt our cup of tea...... afore mentioned fat bastard might have been killed...(are at least bled
)
It wasnt ideal was it mate...
However I think our 'pub parade' worked out quite nicely...
"To the PUB! Fall OUT!"
