Firstly I must ask you try and forgive the travesty I am about to enquire about and beg your indulgence while I explain.
As some of you know I play for an online, dod wwII clan called Radox.
We have members from across Europe and beyond and have organised a weekend meetup in October for everyone to actually put faces and beer bellies to the voices and kar98 whores.
Sadly it was organised before I got much input and instead of going airsofting, we're all going paintballing.
Don't say it, I already know.
What I would like to do though, as a bit of a laugh, is to head along to play with a wwII theme. I don't mind which country or time period but it's going to need to be cheap as chips because it's going to get doused with emulsion.
So, suggestions anyone?

Yeah, cancel paintballing and go to airsoft ![]()
Don't go paintballing in your gear, it'll get ruined!
Depends on which side you wanna do, if you're going as brit, get a brown boiler suit, and some cheap green '58 pattern webbing, its close to WW2 and doesnt cost a fortune. WOuldnt bother wearing a helmet if your paintballing, it wont fit over the mask very elegantly! ![]()

That's a bit of a toughie, mate. You'll be lucky to get hold of kit - even similiar look-a-like kit - which will be cheap enough to splatter. There are the obvious ones; flecktarn is often used as German stand-in kit, but to get a real feel for the WW2 aspect of it, you'd need to get repro stuff (see the kit pic thread).
That's my feeling, anyway, perhaps I'm being a bit anal about it.

I'd echo webby's comments
although.. bizzarly real 37 pattern wwii uk webbing is actually cheaper than 58 pat if you buy it form sabre sales in portsmouth.
You should be able to get a full working set for about £20

For proper kit the top of this forum is littered with stickies about kit and where to get it .
For paintballing .....cheap set of Flectarn, a helmet, boots and a belt for a rough German look , or some Olive drab stuff for an american look . I wouldn't bother with any uniform made from wool as it will fucked by paintballs.
Helmets and leather gear should clean up ok, so they could be used again if you decide ot come WWII softing .
Cancel it and go airsofting instead...
Do you ready anybody elses posts Rich?! ![]()

nah just not yours... ![]()
Haha, good man, i usually talk sh1te anyway ![]()

I'm pretty sure the 'oooh nooes dont painballz' posts really are not hleping guys
As the man said it s not his decision its group outing organised without him.
hes going the question is how to look wwii cheaply
*not* why he shouldn't go paintballing, thats bit is fixed ![]()

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
my basic comment is... if he wants to ww2 do it cheaply the first thing he needs to do is not do paintball.
Its not a oh-noes-not-paintball statement... its a solid recommendation.
Going the airsoft rather than paintball route, opens up the possibilities a lot more.
Yes but the point is hes not *choosing* to do paintball hes damage limiting.
Its liek if you were invited on a stag do
you could nt say i dont want to do paintabll lets go airsofting if it was all already booked and thats what the groom wanted to do.
Im just pointing out hes going paintballing with a group its sort of a waste of time telling him how crap paintball is (for the record i wholeheartedly enjoy paintabll as well occasioanlly) as he has to go.
No point making the chap feel down about it before he even goes.

Agreed - suggest tidy this thread up to keep it to advice as to what could be used for WWII paintballing .
IIRC WWII paintball is huge in the US, they recently did DDay with 3600 yep 3600 players , so it's not unsurmountable

LOL!
Now here's the thing... thats exactly how I got in to airsofting in the first place.
The groom invited me to a stag do at a paintball site.
I said "Nah, you want to do airsoft!" He said, "Oh, whats that?". I said, "I dunno!".
In the end we did both. Airsoft the weekend before the stag do... and guess which was best... ![]()
Tried that, it had already been booked. I know airsoft is much better, have been playing and collecting for about 5 years. I'm not looking at getting into ww2 paintball, this is a one off event for which I am trying to get into the spirit of things. Considering we are all going to be massively hung over as well it's all just for a bit of fun.
Thinking of this in terms of a stag do is probably best; I guess what I'm really looking for is what amounts to a disposable costume. With that in mind I wonder whether it would be worth picking up material and just knocking up something that looks vaguely close and maybe adding a couple of badges. Even if it was just a para's smock and then clip a beret or cap to the top of the paintball helmet. It sure as hell won't be canon but thats not what the weekend is about. There's no point me looking at webbing and accessories because they're just going to get mashed. Maybe I'd be better looking at pow resource sites. They were the ones making german uniforms out of just odds n sods.
Also need to find out whether the paintball site would be happy with me bringing some stick grenades.
As for that deadringers event, lots of people but yeah does look pretty crap by comparison doesn't it? ![]()

Here's a couple of things I found on ebay;
German Helmet £4.95 + 2.99 p&p
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GERMAN-HELMET-HAT ... dZViewItem
Flectarn tank suit £15 + £8 p&p
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GERMAN-FLECTARN-T ... dZViewItem
spray the helmet and add a black leather belt and you should have a reasonable German look

Erm... yeah... I only saw one attempt to even to a ww2 uniform and that looked more like a nam one!
