Helga do you think she looks like a lass that does tents???? She's a very girly girl and only does things that are pink/purple  ahem......
tother helmet is for Jeremy...although he doesn't know that yet. Good to see you at Pickering and excellent idea you had of doing a static medic display to stay nice and dry  thought the camp looked really good too-got any of them interested in airsofting????

What about red and blue instead of pink and purple ....

Was a fab weekend spent socialising :D drinking :D sleeping in the worlds smallest sleeping quarters on a big/high camp bed (my nose nearly touched the canvas  ) :D and running down the platform on sunday to aid a fallen FJ which was ok til I went to check his leg  and saw how many cameras were honed in on us  Helped make breakfast, I even washed a large pot

As for airsofting ... yeah theres a few interest ;) have to watch and see if they come and play or not, I can now loan a couple of shooties out so we'll see if they take the bait ;)

LOL - 1970's Vauxhall Green! Texture looks OK though. Does this mean you have two helmets now?

Well at least its green... the last 3 tommy helmets I bought and renovated were covered in thick grey/brown/silver/black GUNK.

But they're nice now, aren't they CW? ;)

Hmm on closer inspection the texture seems to be rust! Looks like someone got it and sprayed car paint over it to stop the rusting. I think its front seamed although its hard to tell as its been filled in.

Im suspecting its more original than the seller thought. Do repro helmet straps come with brass clasps ?

I may strip this one back and do it properly rather than just spray it. Im assuming enamel thinner will do that.

Use Nitromors and a wire brush attached to an electric drill... then apply a coat of primer and whatever you want after that.

I used Humbrol Enamel Matt 155 (Olive Drab) on the tommy helmets I did.

On the advice of the forumites round here I used Humbrol 155 on my M1 - two pots did the job for 3-4 coats.

SOF have a matt spray in OD which the reenactor forum lot claim is the right colour, I used it on my M1 and I think it looks okay.

Just received british camouflage windproof suit form 'panzerfaust43' on ebay.

Lovley colour, perfect print, good stitching...

However, the sizing is the most bizzare mismatch ever.

I ordered a large and the easily fit over my BD trousers and are roomy and abut right, the jacket however is abut 2 inches short on the arms and little on the small side for me and i'm nto a massivly built bloke.

There is *no way* on earth thats correct sizing so if you order one order the jacket a size up from the trousers.

Blimey! I think I will gamble on the Indian fellah unless someone can recommend someone else.

In the past i have used Memory1945 and he's made me two lovely US suits but they don't do an SAS outfit and they are soooooo sloooooooow to ship.

42 para trousers, '45 holster, web belt. '45 mag pouch, thompson mag bag, '36 pattern original suspenders, para chinstrap set, water bottle pouch, scarf, corcorran boots (now breaking them in!) comfy despite appearance!
now in the process of dyeing some hessian from a sandbag to dress my helmet netting! also got some leather gloves from my local agricultural supplier, not got the back straps like para ones but close enough for the amount I paid for them!
