Good day gentleman! As my title states i'm new to the WW2 airsoft scene, not new to airsoft by any means but I recently acquired an STG44 for a great price and as a proud German, it's leading me to really want to begin a WW2 era SS Kit.

As far as what i'm looking to achieve, I originally wanted to the whole M32 SS Officer kit... but with our summers in Manitoba, it would be FAR too warm for that so I decided to go with the tradition DoT camo.

With all this being said and using the MP44, What would be my best route? I plan on a steel helmet that's one thing I have made my mind up on. I do want it to be accurate for the most part. I've always like the DoT tunic with the solid color trouser look, but unaware if that's accurate? Also, to hold magazine pouches... do I just required a belt? Y-strap? Or both? Also a canteen is a large must... hydration is very important over here. Thanks in advance guys.

And also see this section the looks purely at the SS and may have answered your questions before:

As above, have a look at the kit guides and the SS forum in particular, but yes, the mixed dot camo and field grey is historically fine albeit quite a late war look. Camo smocks cover the entire war, and you can do the thing of making up a cut down collar/jacket top arrangement to wear under it if it is hot.

Along with a belt and ammo pouches I'd recommend a breadbag to put your bits in, also a place to put spare water as the German water bottles are pretty small.

Cheers
Martin
