Right guys, i rarely have a teddy/pram/launch issue but I'm very saddened and disappointed at some thoroughly erroneous claims made by individuals an d teams on a forum or two lately concerning CIA/PBI/DOUGHBOYS et al.
Firstly can i state that its a small scene, we need to work together, silly bitching and backbiting will end us all. Let the government and MAG try and stop us gaming not each other.
Now i'm not going to name names unless the culprits want to admit it but the following has been alleged and its annoyed me.
See claim and then our (PBIs) opinion on it.
"The CIA (PBI, Doughboys etc ) are generally for over 18's , invite only and only open up to us "lesser mortals" when they need more players to make up the No's"
Utter rubbish, one game was invite only between two teams. Every other game has been open to all comers
"they dont like the 101st Airborne much"
Again utter rubbish, we just havnt run a game featuring them yet, while you may be happy with a skirmish in silly kit where japanese snipers ally with the waffen ss as they repulse the 82nd airborne aided by the arctic warfare cadre... we're not. We value history. A critical fact is that the 101st only took part in a limited number of ops, we cant shoehorn them into every game to keep a few players happy. For christs sake we wrote an entire US airborne game and you didnt want to play cos you were asked to rebadge as 82nd or even easier still simply unpick your badge and go unbadged...
Can i also add wth all due respect you are not in the 101st airborne, its not about disliking a unit, i'd have the same problem with an Afrika Korps player who insisted he was fitted into our Normandy scenarios.. its just makes a mockery of history and the veterans. For the record I have a associate who is a Major in the REAL 101st airborne and I get on with him fine... The closest I have been to airborne is the top of my stairs and i'd hazard a guess thats true for many airborne players.. for petes sake dont get so territorial about a unit you have never been in, have no family ties to and will never be in.
"Gunman games will allow younger players and also have kit and gun hire available"
I consider Josh a friend, and you're right he does do the above, thats cos Josh, (great bloke that he is) is also a commercial site operator, we're not, while i'd love to have 40 mp40s at my disposal my bank manager might query it. We do however loan out kit and guns for *FREE* to those that want to play and dont have the kit. Josh also has the insurance to allow younger players and makes the commercial decision to do so - we CANNOT we are bound by the regulations of the site that kindly play host to us.
" PBI are a picky bunch and if there's a piece of kit out of place you're sunk...and they won't let you play."
Utter tosh again.. is this why we lend out kit, is this why we write in roles in games for players who dont have certain types of kit or we write in partisan parts? Or do you mean we wouldn't let you play 101 airborne at Arnhem BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT THERE!
Please check the PBI 'kit loan' thread to see evidence of this.
I feel it is utterly deplorable to slate the CiA forums and its constitute groups on other public fora and then frequent here when it suits you to market your event or buy kit....
Disgraceful nefarious behaviour and rather bad form IMO.
rant over....
Should any of you have the moral fortitude to attend our June game... I'll be happy to try and give you the best day ever and prove you wrong. You will be welcomed as any other player and hopefully we can use the day to put this silliness behind us.

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Someone on here wrote that ? why? and if they are on these forums how are they so ill informed? ![]()
Good greif, I would have expected more from that certain person ![]()
Well said Gadge.
No unit has ever been excluded from a PBI game because we "didn't like them". I'm sure the same is true for CiA games. Both want to run historically accurate scenarios and the more flexible you can be with unit impressions the more games you can go to. It's a simple as that.
Guys i dont want an argument or a slagging match i just want some folk to either say what they feel openly and transparently on all fora rather than changing their opinion for select audiences *and* realise that the phrase 'divided we fall' has never been truer than in the cause of WWII airsoft.
All the various types of games we play (and it is a broad church indeed) have something to offer and none are inherently better or worse than another on the whole.
I've taken the opportunity to redress some slightly unfair comments made on another forum (of which I am not a member) and ask where the milage is in turning potential new players off other sites and games?
I'll repeat its a small scene, we cant afford silly internecine warfare over the internet... as said 'united we stand - divided we fall'.
I would dearly love to see our detractors come to our next game, if only to have a cuppa at the break if they really cant face playing anything other than one unit and have a laugh about all this... get it out in the open and move on.
This silly sniping harms us all.

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Have to laugh at most of that ....as one the core who started CiA we have run a total of one members only game in three years as a thank you to the people who support us . Lets face it the free membership is not hard to get either .
The under 18 thing as I have explanined umpteen times is because none of us want to get involved with Child Protection issues and legislation , risk assessment and insuarance.
I'm taking it all this crap is on another forum not here , perhaps if the individual has some nuts he'll come on here and repeat it all so we can debate it fully, as we have many other hard issues in the past .
Before CW puts it more susinctly than me , we have all ploughed hours and £££s into making the WWII scene ....all for free . We are not under any obligation to do this , or to put on games to suit the one Bolivian Admiral or the 33rd Custard Pie Brigade, we put on what we want to do , fitting in with our interests, diversity and trying to widen the envelope and you all choose to come or not simple as. If you want to be a Foreign Legionairre, then put on a game .
The day no one books into a game is the day we stop doing it , and all four of us will tell you that .
So anyway , I await the keyboard warrior to make himself known .
EDIT My mobile number below if you prefer to remain 'anonymous'
2nd Edit to remove "you bunch of cock snorklers."
Yes well said Gadge and my thoughts exactly. There is no room for fractures in a community this size.
Well put Gadge. I think some people need to realise that without CiA, the WW2 scene as it is now in the UK would not exist.
Guy, "keyboard warrior", I love it!
I wouldn't say that CiA and PBI exclude "mere mortals", but DO exclude cocks.

When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
I'd just point out that the Comrades in Arms forum is a community forum.
Everyone has their say, sometimes representing a group, other times as an individual.
Here ALL groups are welcomed, given their own section when asked for, and have equal standing.
Likewise players of any level of kit or aspiration is welcomed and there should be something for everyone, be it non-player, starter player or grizzled veteran. Doesn't matter whether you regard yourself as 'just an airsofter' or are the most anal and picky of kit collectors or sleep in a foxhole every night.
Not only that, despite being run and funded by a game organising group, ANY site or organisation has a platform to advertise their events to the community, for free.
Now then, come on, act like a community please!

"you bunch of cock snorklers."
Comments like this will only add fuel to the fire. I'd appreiciate such comments to repeated in person. See you all at war and Peace. Anyone is welcome to come and discuss this matter in person, With Dog Company, and not from behind a keyboard.
I'll await the back lash from the usual crowd.
No back lash from me.
That's just Guy being his usual abrasive self. ![]()
To counter it he does offer his mobile number for a chat!
Oh I won't be at W&P, it's a feck of a long way to go to have a mud bath... and I've done it twice! lol
I'll be at W&P, come to the AI stand and see kermit and I.
Make you a cuppa and have a chat by all means...

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."

OK Yith you can edit this post out now ....
* Sighs *
All this forum
-ness!
I had put a deal of today's work off until Monday so I could relish in the BBC's excellent streamed News 24 coverage of political events - only to have to deal with a flurry of PMs and forum postings.
You chaps have no consideration!

to be honest, i was enjoying the ebb and flow of the original medal ribbon /does it matter thread, i thought it was a very good debate.
it is an interesting topic of debate, but it did feel 'personal'. Which is where the wheels swing of all debates.
As Sean Philips used to say when stood upon his 432 dealing with arguments ....
" You're a bunch of grown men dressed up as soldiers playing with toy guns ....get a fucking grip "
I used to disagree with 99% of what he said but that one stuck .
well i was the last person to put the same reply across as four other people before it got a bit shirty, but i did pm yith not to mod or lock it at that stage as i thought it was going somewhere.we are all entitled to our opinions, the danger is not being able to accept when yours are ...... for want of a better word... wrong, or at least not valid.
( nods to old un, who replied as i was typing, i couldnt agree more.we are NOT who we portray. its a game)
Well this is all fine and dandy, but I haven't half the foggiest whats gone on, and its less sensicle than seemed if half the story is missing ![]()
