Trying to keep the latest acquisitions thread a bit cleaner. Post pics of you in your kit here. There is a similar thread to this in the Allied forum, but this is for all and sundry.

I'll start with the latest pics from the Allied forum:

Flibble, me, Sid.

We do 17th Combat Engineers - 2nd Armored Division - B-company ;)
During operation Cobra, the Normandy Breakout.

I'm sure you've all seen these before:

Taken with a vintage Kodak Retina II by my mate Kenny in 2006. This particular field was used as a rest camp by the second armored just prior to the breakout.

My ode to Robert Capa, who shot the original photo with the same composition at the same location 62 years earlier. The man handing up the bottle of wine was a British veteran who just happened to be there with his son and grandson.

Hey Steve, best regards from Sidney. he's recouperating swiftly and will be back in action by the end of July.

Whats up with him? Tell him sydney from england says hi. The last time I saw him he eas taking a group of us around a few of the atractions near Nijmagen, he recomended a campsite that had a swimming pool, it turned out to be a green pool, pond life rather than enviromentally friendly.

A bit posed as they're in the house and I'm, well, posing...

I was going to go outside, but there were too many people around I didn't fancy answering questions about the Thompson.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

rather than having the tufts in the helmet sticking out have them stretched in between the netting. less sniper-esque. since you've got a thompson and all.

I dis agree with speirs. The idea is to break up the outline of the helmet, which they do exelently as they are.

Thanks flibble.

Cheers for all the comments guys, as it's my first go all are appreciated.

I just need to stop being lazy with the sewing and get my unit patches sewn on now

I need to look a bit snipery as my main weapon will be a Springfield 1903 - the Thompson is my backup. I'd have been pictured with that, but I'm picking it up at CR. :)

Use it, dirty it up, never wash it.

(Your kit that is....)

Oh, and tuck you chin cup in when you're in the field, it'll piss you off after about 5 minutes otherwise, and lose the first aid pack off the helmet, it's a real film thing and was rarely done during the war and also destroys the point of the helmet camo!

Will do, I'm hoping the kit will get quite a bit of use this summer, so should mucky up quickly.

I'll get the first aid packet off and bag on my webbing, I didn't realise it wasn't that authentic.
