I have a modern scrim scarf too but it was damn hot by the time these were taken. Also Beret needs shaping apparently and i want some less conspicuous face protection for proper ww2 events >.> Also can anyone recommend where to get some gloves?
Anklets should be in the post soon, will post some better pics when they turn up and i've bought batteries....

thought I saw something weird - your waterbottle is the wrong way round in the carrier.
What seriously? Which way round is it meant to be? I have it curving out, seemed right...
*Edit* oh wait i think i see what you mean- huh. Could have sworn i put it in end to end. Will swap it back.

Haven't posted in ages, But I've been working on my Airborne kit, still not finished since i started it 2 years ago. But:-
Looks great, pop the dressing pack off your helmet tie it to one of your vertical webbing straps. Tighten the sling on your Thomson, it doesn't look to be fitted correctly. Apart from that very good and nice photo.

I'm just wonderng what division/ army the collar tabs represent? It's just I've heard some different opinions (generally) of what the colours mean
Thanks

They're the "subdued" ones, with infantry "arm of service" badges on them. They don't denote any particular division and, are nicely generic, making them suitable for any Russian infantry loadout.
When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
Ditto to what Pete says..
Out of interest, what "opinions" have you heard?
Yep they're the subdued insignia used from April 1941 until replaced by the M43 insignia so ideal for the whole first half of the great patriotic war. Even when fully coloured Red Army insignia is nice and generic; only evey showing branch of service and rank. I'm currently writing an article for the website that should help clear things up a little.
Out of interest, what "opinions" have you heard?
I'd be interested to hear too. My guess is people getting confused between the Red army and the later Soviet Army insignia.
Yes, possibly, although later WW2 shoulderboards come in a bewildering variety of shapes, sizes and colours - more of a problem for officers than us grunts though.
Cheers

Yes there are quite a few variations what with both the field & everyday versions. However since we're mostly dealing with in the field and lower ranks it isn't too complex.
My son's start of his Waffen SS uniform
a few farby bits I know but getting there, just needs a helmet cover, gas mask case, breadbag and Y straps and he'll be good to go
