Belt is hanging very low as well. Should not be over the pockets but inbetween the chest and hip pockets, only just below the ribcage.

Face is filthy but hands are clean. Just washed for lunch?
What's the story with the large gauge net? Is that usual for 101st in Normandy? I thought they were issued small gauge British nets.
Other than that it looks very good

Hands is an oversight, although earlier in the day I had been wearing gloves so there is always that.

No excuse for the helmet net, I've just always had the wide gauge one, I have 3 narrow gauge helmet nets, I just prefere this one. Everyone's allowed one little faux pas ain't they!

Yes, little slips are quite forgivable but keep me entertained.
or
No, as member number 8 of Net Errors Team, sworn enemies of incorrect helmet net wearing in airborne impressions it is totally outrageous and you shall suffer having your yellow leather gloved hands immersed in warm water until the dye stains your hands. Thus you will carry the mark of the tainted for all time, well until you get a good wash at least.

Such deviance! You are not doing yourself any favours with such heresy. Dispatch yourself to Epic or SoF immediately and purchase the gloves of yellow.
You do know these are one third of the great airborne talisman that protects from all hits?
The gloves of yellow, the rope of brightest white and most potent, the big boots of brown.

Haha the boots are covered in mud, so still brown but a different brown.

The gloves, although, not yellow would've been very useful when I had 2 Germans cornered in the dark at Drakelow Tunnels and a noob who didn't know the rules decided to give me a burst from an MP40 at 4 feet.

Wouldn't worry about it mate, I was never very arsed about it being spot on but just sort of built it up over time, most of the little changes to make it look right aren't time consuming, you'll just see people wearing certain ways and sort it out as ya go.

I'm only pulling Spiers leg cos he's all dashing and butch in his gear.
I'm sure your kits fine. With US airborne people tend to over do it. They carry all the kit the guys dumped soon after landing. Why would guys wear a life vest after they shed their chute? Bright yellow? Really, you camo your helmet and your face but then wear a life vest......
Dont bother with jump wings on your M42.
You dont see many guys wearing the leather gloves post jump.
Try to resist strapping the first aid kit to your helmet, not that it was never done just that it's over done.
The drop rope was often dumped right after landing, guys dont carry the gas mask because 'it was dumped by the real guys'. So why are you wearing a redundant length of white rope? They dropped those faster than the gas mask.
You can live without the M2 and M3 knife for airsoft.
You dont want an arm flag for 101st wearing M42.
Not everyone in the airborne was issued a sidearm, they are handy for airsoft but not vital.
You can save a fortune on kit by buying some quality books on your chosen unit.
Dont follow what other airsofters or re-enactors wear, copy photos of the real guys.

I think it's the belt of ammo that makes me look 'butch.'

First outing in Brit kit, have since sorted some things out, (namely the gaiters are on the wrong legs and i have another way to tuck the trousers into them which is better)

Looking excellent, get yourself a enameled tin mug for your tea and you're perfect :)

(while a lot were the brown sort, the white with a blue rim ones you can get from camping stores are fine too).

Makes a noise on the back of your small pack but looks iconic and is very handy :)

White with blue rim are actually the earlier type, so preferred really.

Make sure you get the large 1 pint one, not the smaller ones.

Cheers guys and good idea regarding the mug- could probably get one for about £2 to finish the kit off. I do actually have a mug which is dark red enamalled on the outside, black rim and white inside- this might be a bit of a stupid observation, but it looks exactly like the mugs they use in 'A bridge too far'- so if this a correct mug or have the film makers been slightly lenient with their mug issuing :giggle: ?

I've not seen one like that.

Usually what you want is these:
http://www.sentimentaljourney.co.uk/sj/ ... amel_brown

A few years ago I found a place selling them for a quid each... they all went super fast...

WPG now do repros of the two types:
http://www.whatpriceglory.com/shopexd.asp?id=3090&bc=no
http://www.whatpriceglory.com/shopexd.asp?id=2883&bc=no

Heh, which are out of stock...

SOF have brown ones...
http://www.sofmilitary.co.uk/ProductDet ... x?id=13706

and epic
http://www.epicmilitaria.com/product.ph ... inking-mug

of course £10 is rather a lot for a tin mug!

This is my second "Had I know when I was little" moment this week...

My grandparents had a bunch of those white ones.

And a couple of days ago I found out I used to own an original German torch that I thoroughly trashed. Oh well

Goodness, £15.50 is a lot to pay for a crows foot on the bottom! My pair of Yith £1 jobs were indeed a bargain.

You can get white/blue edge enamel mugs from camping shops for two or three quid - they are usually half-pint size and are lighter weight than old fashioned ones so not perfect replicas but look OK and function perfectly :? , no problems drinking tea out of 'em!

This one is pint size: http://www.surplusandoutdoors.com/shop/camping-equipment/plates-enamel-wear/large-size-9cm-enamel-mugs-in-466790.html

And a brown one: http://www.surplusandoutdoors.com/shop/camping-equipment/plates-enamel-wear/new-wwii-wartime-and-1950-s-army-320119.html
