I was under the impression boue bread bags were luftwaffw ground troops issue (as in air base guards etc etc), even the field divs to my knowledge had green or tan ones in combat roles.
I'm happy to be corrected if im wrong but I dont think many FJ in 44 had blue bread bags
That was my understanding also, but again, happy to be corrected.
“I wanted to come to the Volga at a specific location at a specific city. By chance it carries the name of Stalin himself. So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."

"Comrades, Red Army men, commanders and political workers, men and women guerrillas! It is on your perseverance, staunchness, fighting skill and readiness to discharge your duty to the country that the defeat of the German-fascist army and the liberation of the Soviet land from the Hitlerite invaders depend! We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."
Joseph Stalin, November 1942
Ah, I've never heard that - I'll ask around. Fortunately, it's not as bright blue as the pic seems to show - must've been a rogue ray of sunlight shining on it at the time.
Re: the old mud job on the helmet - it was again muddier than the pics show. Certainly a common early war look - however, looking at those pics I realised it in no way breaks the shape up, so I've finally fixed my rather nice chunky helmet net on (and consequently rubbed most of the mud off in the process!), for that Normandy look.

If thats what Paul said over on the Pst then I'd be pretty confident. He seems to know his stuff when it comes to FJ kit.

Makes sense, by 44 the FJ divisions were made up of a lot of luftwaffe personel, ground crews etc so they would still be using the blue kit they were originally issued with.

Yes, apparently blue was issued to FJ up to and including 1944.
